anon Rabbits should have hay available at all times. Telling rabbit owners to "ocassionally" feed their rabbits hay will lead to those rabbits being starved of the essential fibers they need to stay healthy, and it will lead to those rabbits dying of diarrhea. 8/23/2011

Laurel Feeding unlimited hay along with lots of fresh greens, and cutting back on pellets is healthier for most rabbits' digestive systems than "occasionally" giving hay. Pellets can then be used for supplemental nutrition, rather like people taking vitamins. Fruits and root vegetables should be fed sparingly, as special treats, they are too high in fat and carbohydrates for regular feeding. 11/24/2010
