Letha Of course it's interesting. We have all heard of at least one of those famous names and wonder if we have anything in common with them.

I never heard anything about Picasso being ill. He was tremendously productive until a very advanced age. He may have been a bit paranoid because he "stole" many of his ideas or developed his artistic ideas borrowing from other artists. Some of his early work looks very much like African art and his large cubic figures resemble megalithic carving. But he went through many artistic periods. (Many wives too. )

Is our perception of schizophrenia based on anti-social behavior, the intensity of a person's suffering, or symptoms such as hearing voices or other delusions? They may vary with the individual. Unfortunately the people you mention cannot be interviewed. The diagnosis may refer to a particularly difficult period for them or to medical prejudice.
