| deleted post | a "set" of embryos are created in an ivf cycle... the parents deign to choose perhaps a few of these to go on to live full lives as their own children who will have a very good chance of reaching adulthood and leading full lives... the other embryos are left at the very best to be sold into another family and at worst used for scientific research...hey! maybe they'll be able to provide a much needed cures for an embryo that were allowed to live but, horrors of all horrors, turned out to be tainted with some sort of disease or abnormality! Let's see if this post gets deleted too! |

| Keith Gill | The anti stem cell research comments I have read on this page are extremely one sided. Visit more sites and better inform yourself before accusing scientists of murder. This is a medical advancement. It can be used in so many ways to help so many people. What if your childs life relied on stem cells? Then would you support stem cell research? Think before you post your one sided accusations please. | 11/10/2010 |
| Keith Gill | Stem cell research protesters should read this page and see just how much all of this research is helping the lives of people. Maybe then they would re-think their selfish views. | 11/10/2010 |

| Kristen | you have very good information. but you should put an artical up for basic stem cell reserch for students like me. | 8/24/2010 |
| Kevin | These embryos used for research are going to get disgarded anyway. You are saving NOTHING! fertility clinics discard the unused embryos. All this is is trying to ty this in to abortion and it's TOTALLY different. Use your brain when discussing this. IT'S GOING TO GET DISCARDED ANYWAY! use it for research. | 8/24/2010 |
| Martha Salcido | to me an embryo is "life". and yes, we deprive a human being of his right to live. | 6/16/2010 |
| lexy | Stem cells are good b/c they help scientists find cures for many sick people. Also they help create organs for the people who need transplant. | 6/9/2010 |
| Olayinka | Stem cells have the remarkable potential to develop into many different cell types in the body during early life and growth. In addition, in many tissues they serve as a sort of internal repair system, dividing essentially without limit to replenish other cells as long as the person or animal is still alive. When a stem cell divides, each new cell has the potential either to remain a stem cell or become another type of cell with a more specialized function, such as a muscle cell, a red blood cell, or a brain cell. | 5/21/2010 |
| Kickass | I think that using a life to extend your own life is paramount to murder | 5/11/2010 |

| Anonymous | This article was helpful, but I too am wondering how they were able to create the embryonic stem cells without destroying an embryo. People aren't very well-informed on this subject which you can obviously see by how some people responded even to this article. There is a distinct difference between embryonic and adult stem cells, so all stem cell research shouldn't be completely stopped. Using embryos for research is unethical (it is ending a human life), but using stem cells from umbilical cords or skin cells, or lots of other organs in adults is both successful and ethical. We need to try and find cures; however, it should be done in ethical ways. |

| MJ of Indy | My grandson is 11 years old. He cannot walk or talk or use his hands or feet or hold up his head, so his speech motor areas of his brain are badly damaged as result of failure to diagnose a metabolic disorder of Glutaric Aciduria or Acidemia (GA type 1) until he was 9 months old. HIs little sister is also afflicted and she is 8. She is able to walk and talk but her gait and speech are also affected to some degree. They have been thrown into the varied category of Cerebral Palsy. Is there anything that stem cell therapy could be done for these children. Thanks for any help you can give me. | 2/15/2010 |
