If the fashion industry excludes a whole race of models from their runways....can they survive and thrive without the spending power of people of color?

morrie I think all blacks that spend money on design clothes and hand bags need to stop spending money to fashion magazines and most importantly victoria secret catalog that we normally do not see many of black models. If they are going to judge us by color, this means that our money is not good enough or pale 8/5/2009
char Hey. Maybe it makes sense to hire natural tans for the runway--let's turn the European invented fashion industry over to women who come from countries where they have a history of wearing almost nothing, I guess because they have melanin.
The fashion industry is profoundly white-European in its Essence. Why do you they should cede to non-whites?
Talking of changing looks. Beyonce fake hair, even a fake hairline so it looks like non-negro hair. Why should they go to all that trouble? Just use non-blacks. Why spend millions to change kinky hair when the real thing is all over the place.

Well Noted Great article! I take it a step further and email, phone and sometimes fax and write a letter to the editor to include more African Americans in not only modeling, but writers, photographers, stylists, etc. 1/18/2009
