michael snowboarding costs alot more. you need boots socks layers hats goggles helmet etc. also you need bindings the board you SHOULD have wax. surfing you just need boardshorts (if you have warm water) sunscreen wax and a board. maybe some other little things in between... anyways i prefer surfing anyways but both are cool. 2/16/2011
Holly This is great advice to give.Personaly, since i am a major snowboarder,i would have to say that it is better, but im trying surfing this summer and im so stoked! 5/11/2010
Richie This sounds like it was written by a snowboarder...to say surfing is easier and less expensive is an outrage...alot of beaches arent free and if u live were i live Long Island u need wetsuits and not just one size cause the water is constintly changing... a new surfboard can cost anywere from 400- 1000 bucks and wetsuits can range from 100-1000 dollars...in the long run snowboarding is probly more expenive depending on how many times u go cause the price for a lift ticket adds up quick...surfing easily recuires more endurance if u never surfed real waves u wouldnt know cause to compare goin down a mountian to surfin ankle slop waves obviously snowboarding would be harder but wen ur paddling out into waves that are double O good luck... thats like telling a begginer to go down a a triple black diamond...everything is only as safe as u make it and as easy as u make it...juss my opinion anyways 12/21/2009
will This is very snowboard biased. Surfing is much more expensive in terms of equipment. A new board costs anywhere from $600-$1000 a wetsuit cost about $300-$400, plus gloves and boots apox. $80. And to surf a variety of waves you will need two different surfboards. 10/18/2009
silas nichols I learned to snowboard in washington state and B.C. . I've
also learned to surf on north shore oahu hawaii. personally I think snowboarding is easier to learn ( also a bit more painful ) hands down more time is spent standing on your board while snowboarding. surfing is also , i think more dangerous but it is way more cost effective and who doesn't love chicks in bikinis ? which is more fun? who cares, the ride is great! and you cant beat that feeling
