My students read this story (with some editing) for a study of characterization and plot. They loved the story and wanted to know even more about the main character and her life. One student commented about how well Mercy set up the scene; she thought that the detail about raining and sleeping made the story feel mysterious. Another student commented that Mercy used great questions and details to add suspense to the story. Ms. Rampai, we all hope that you will continue writing. :)
