drift core	Don't forget about nikola tesla. He is never given enough credit for developing the ac technologies that we use today. If we just used edison's direct current then electrical transmission would be more difficult, cars would be morelikely to have dead batteries (because they would have primitive generators instead of alternators) and the ac motor would never have been created.	5/3/2011

Dennis Venuto	I cannot understand why Thomas Edison gets all the historical credit for inventing electricity. Edison also gets all the credit for the light bulb, not true. Humphry David in 1800 invented the battery and also the carbon filement for the light bulb. It was not untill 1910 William David Coolidge invented the tungsten filament for the light bulb which revolutionized the world, not Edison. Thomas Edison and Henry Ford built a number of expiermental buildings along the Hines Park River in Dearborn, MI. The two of them brought scientists from other European and other countries here to America to work in these labs. They had no idea that when they solved and created most of Thomas Edisons ideas, that Edison would file a patent taking all credit. That is how and why he has over a thousand of them. If it was not for Tesla inventing alternating current and Westinghouse building the first warter turbine generator using the Niragra Falls to produce alternating current, we would have Edison DC battery transfer stations every 20 miles. Tesla won out Edison lost although still gets all the credit, WHAT A SPOOF.	7/5/2010

Leslie	I find it kind of offensive that you state that the "Writing on electricity cannot complete without the mention of Thomas Edison"... What about Niclola Tesla? Who invented the Alternating Current while Edison boasted the Direct Current as the best. Not to mention that Edison was one of the biggest frauds of his time, stealing ideas from other not-so-famous inventors of the time and claiming them as his own. Tesla was the greatest mind on electricity at that time and a leader in our understanding of how electricity works.	7/8/2009
