Evi I think you're missing a great deal of pros. I'm in the middle, since I consider each situation for the right to abort, however you are missing several pros. Consider:
-a baby that is born to a drug addict and will suffer for the rest of its life
-a mother that has a debilitating illness, such as AIDS, among others
-a pregnancy caused by rape
-the overpopulation of humanity when a mother is considering giving her baby up for adoption (let alone the number of "unwanted" children that are waiting to be adopted)
-birth to a mother that is severely mentally unstable and will probably harm the child.

Advocate I just want to say that abortion is wrong under any circumstances. I'm not here to scream or yell at anyone, but I do think that our country needs to take a serious look at our ideology about abortion. A lot of people think that a woman should be able to do whatever she wants to with her own body. According to this school of thought, I should be allowed to inject myself with heroin, or drive drunk, or cut myself. Why? I am simply a woman, and I can do what I want. As one can see, this idea is very flawed. Also, a lot of other people try to use rape and incest as an excuse for having an abortion. Rape and incest are horrific crimes, but one cannot make up for them by killing the innocent child they create. Two wrongs don't make a right. Another major point made towards abortion is that it should be legal if the mother's life is in danger. A New Zealand life support center has declared that almost no pregnancies endanger the life of the mother. Abortion is an outrage, and I can't tell you how many nights I've gone to sleep crying while thinking about it. Reading some of these comments made me very angry. However, we need to protest abortion peacefully and with great love for others. In no way must we repay this evil with more evils. I am angry at those who attack abortion clinics and those employed in them. Despite our strong feelings about the issue, we need to protest in a way that respects the mothers who are faced with an unwanted pregnancy. I think the best way is for women to realize that abortion is not the only choice. There are so many support organizations out there that help women with their pregnancies. Shouting at women does nothing to make them change their hearts. Prayer, support, and nonviolent protest are the key to ending abortion. 1/2/2011

Survivor There are NO pros to abortion. How can we the people be so quick to tell each not to kill: it’s a crime, when the unborn child’s own mother will kill it. Preshiousmargie Well I believe that abortion is wrong. Even tho the mother has to go through the pain atleast she can say she's able to have a child. Some women are infertile so they wish they could go through the pain of having a child. There's also something called adoption. Maybe you can't take care of the child now. Atleast let someone else take care of the child until you can take care of it yourself because you can always get your child back. kah whether abortion is meant to be legalized or not depends on how one way of thinking/ from my point of view i feel that abortion can be legalized under certain regulations, i.e, only cases of rapes, health problems and to certain extent the financial state of the mother. after reading many articles i found that many people say that "if she knows she can't rear a child so why having a sexual relationship". but they forgot that non of the contraceptives are 100% reliable.

Lisa I had a baby from my school sweetheart when i was a teenager and I kept the baby. Looking back, i wished i had had an abortion. They dont tell you the damage that can be done by KEEPING the baby, they just hammer home the damage by abortion. I wished someone had warned me and I wished i had had an abortion. Later on I had another baby in my late 20`s when I was ready and love that baby to bits and is wanted. An abortion is something that I am sure any teenager or raped woman would consider right off the bat, but they should throw the idea out after considering the facts. Many people claim that the baby is not actually human until it comes out of the womb, but it is fact that the babies' heart begins to beat on approximately day 21. That is only three weeks into the pregnancy while abortions can be preformed legally until month 10. They allow this because they give you the chance to decide if you want your baby once they have figured out if it has any disorders, diseases, mental illnesses, etc.

Although an abortion would seem to be an easy way out, 3/4 of all woman that have had an abortion are haunted by their decision all of the years to come. You say that it would be worse to let the baby suffer without good support on earth, and that killing it to put it out of its misery would be for the benefit of the child, but you cannot knock out the adoption factor. Anyone can put their child up for adoption and find a family with the money and love needed to support the child. It would be hard to give a baby up for adoption once you have had the connecting bond of giving birth to it, but it is better to give the child a chance to gain a life of love than to kill it and pray that you saved it from the misery it might have gone through.

Either situation would be hard, but it just seems as though the choice of faith that the baby will live a good life is better than hoping you kept it from harms way. Young women going through unexpected pregnancy should never forget that there are also women out there that have had multiple problems trying to become pregnant. They are ready to start families of their own, but because of different reasons are not able to do so on their own. Women who choose adoption over abortion could save themselves from grief, their child from death, and make another couple very gracious of a hard deed.		 1/23/2009
Darth I agree there are pros and cons to aborting a child, but I believe the pros considerably outweigh the cons.
The abortion rate is steadily declining, going from 1.6 million in 1990 to 1.2 million in 2005, mostly because of mothers being informed of the emotional and physical effects of aborting a child.
I believe life starts at conception, not delivery, which also changes my view of things. Robbing any person of their rights is wrong.
Most women who get abortions claim they made a "mistake" in the conception of the child. However, being a Chrisitian, I do not believe there would have been a child if it were not meant to be. Maybe the mother cannot take care of the child, but there is a willing family waiting for a child to love and nourish. Why take away their hopes and dreams?
Being a Christian also changes my view on the mother's choice in the issue. Your body does not really belong to you, it belongs to Christ. And leaving the Christian viewpoint, once you have a life inside of you, you are required to not only take care of yourself, but also the child.		 1/22/2009

not your call I think it is the mother's choice to have an abortion or not. I'm doing a persuasive paper for a class, and I honestly think that most everyone who has posted a comment doesn't even know what goes on in abortion. Steven B Abortion should be the intended mothers decision not anyone else's. I Also think it depends on the situation, for example if she was raped then I say they have a reason because they may not have love for the child and the child will not be productive. Some women can't handle the difficulty of this circumstance and it is traumatizing for them. Ashley She is wrong about abortions in the U.S. there are restrctions beginning after the 1st trimester. The gov steps in and if an abortion is needed it will be granted,but in NO WAY can a woman 7 or 8 mo pregnant randomly walk into a clinic and get an abortion. love-life i think people's opinion on this subject depends on how they view pregnacy: is it just a state that the mother is in or is it a development of a living human being- someone with rights ? When can we regard people as having 'life' - at conception or at birth? And does a woman really have full control of her body -does she have the choice to do whatever she likes to it, even if it may destroy her? (alcohol, drugs, suicide, etc.) Personally, I think you can never know the results of an abortion, or going ahead with pregnacy, and while either can lead to suffering and pain or maybe relief and joy, depending on the situation, at least with child-bearing you're letting the child have a chance at life. Raquel L. I think abortion should be your choice; i dont believe in the opinon of others that the government should be involved in it. What's happening with/in your body is your own private business. I believe in cases like rape; you should be able to get abortion and like for teenagers; they make mistakes. A lot of teenagers dont get 'sex classes' and they arnt getting informtaion about consequences. For those who sleep around with guys; that's another story because their being careless, but it's not fair if they keep the baby and dont have enough money to support the child; their just making a baby suffer. I know killing a ' human being' is wrong, but making it suffer is even worse. The baby isnt officaily 'human' until it's out of the mom's stomache anyways; but if the government and other's are against abortion, because its killing. i think that abortion should stay legal because first of all, what if the woman got raped? would a woman really want to give birth to a baby that has an unknown creepy father that rapes innocent women?
i dont think so.
second of all, it is inapportiate for a 14-18 year old girl to be having a baby in her stomach.
because, she is in HIGH SCHOOL. high school is supposed to be the best 4 years of your life. not giving birth to a baby whose father probably doesnt even speak to the poor mother anymore. and also,
women are indepedent and should be able to decide what they want to do with their body and their baby. the option of abortion should be open to ANY woman out there, because they are multiple reasons why a woman would want to abort.
