Henry Whoa! James, have you read what your wrote?

You wrote: "The House Resolution reads, "that it is the sense of the House of Representatives that the life and achievements of Antonio Meucci should be recognized, and his work *in* the invention of the telephone should be acknowledged."

How did that get translated to mean: "Meucci invented the telephone"? The resolution saying "work 'in' the invention of the telephone" means that he contributed to the invention, NOT that he invented it. Wow! Those politicians can sure be tricky!

B.t.w.: the congressional resolution did not in any way affect Bell's patents; and 10 days after the resolution was passed it was countered by a Canadian parliamentary motion rejecting it, and which maintained Bell's priority in the invention of the telephone. Tit-for-tat politics if you wish.

But please, when you quote some legal text, actually read and understand what it actually says before repeating other false reports about it.
