| Sophian | hi... I think you need to correct the part where u state that 'other Islamic countries, to undergoing fasts for the well-being of her husband'... I believe, being a muslim myself, its not in Islamic teaching for a person to self-torture oneself. Kindly not to mix culture, tradition and religion... they are 3 different areas which are easily confused and tend to intermingle. | 12/7/2011 |
| jony | this is really touching.every one knows abt gender inequality .inequality generally means domination upon girls only but u have also pointed abt boys too...great explaination ... | 3/17/2011 |

| Arjan Broekman | sexism is not discrimination, get your facts straight. It is harassment. | 2/9/2011 |
| afemale | You mention how men are much more prominent in leadership roles, however have you considered the possibility that men are by nature very capable of making good leaders? It may not be because preference is given to the male, but simply because he would do the better job. It's like females being able to 'do two things at once.' Genders are not inequal, but they certainly do not share the same strengths. | 10/25/2010 |
| kim | wow... i think that the workforce and the whole social and economical world should seek equality in the male and female genders because women has just as much brains, strength, and ability as men does to an extent. they need to respect that and give women higher status and positions in the US. The religion, I have no control of...it's whatever you believe on that part. | 4/16/2010 |
| Liz | I'm very sorry to whoever wrote this article but I have to disagree with the comment that religion discriminates against women. During the services I attend, I have every right to stand up and pray or sit where I like - the same rights as any man. In Galatians (New Testament) it says: "There is neither Jew nor Gentile, male or female, slave or freeman; we are all equal in Christ". I won't enter marriage unless I believe that I will be treated as an equal and remember that in the early church wives were sometimes the head of the household and would lead churches. Yes, Eve was made of Adam's rib - just because she was made second did that mean she had doomed her gender to live under Adam's. Finally, God is NOT a man. He is referred to in the masculine form because, in society in general, men were given more respect - the early writers did not want people to feel disrespect due to God being referred to as a 'she'. Jesus Christ was a man, once again in the late B.C./early A.D. women were, in most societies seen as inferior and Jesus would have had limits as to what He could do, and not do in society. I hope I have cleared a few things up, once again I apologise to the writer, this is not meant as a barrage of criticism against your skills. | 4/16/2010 |
| aniiejo | This is a good article, but it should have more of an article/essay format without headings for the start of every paragraph. Add more quotes | 1/30/2010 |
| jie | thank you so much... this is the one that I've been looking for. | 1/26/2010 |
| amandeep kaur | Gender discrimination Here I am talking about gender inequalities. Women and girls having fewer opportunities in life because they are female. The term gender also refers to boys and men, having more opportunities in life. No doubt we are living in 21st century but our thinking is still like illiterate people. When we talk about human rights why always men get all rights, opportunities, responsibilities and choices in life? Girls and women aren't given these rights, opportunities, responsibilities and choices in their life. Societies in which women have equal rights are wealthier. These countries grow faster and having better governance system. The development and growth is high in these countries. S In India, it is found that in some village women are more responsible rather than men. Mostly in poor families and in villager families men always spend large part of their income for their personal use like wine, smoke, clothes etc where women devotes all their salaries to fulfill family needs. But the worst part of women ‘s life – women are legally their husband’s property, women cannot leave the house or get a job without a man's permission, even some times women’s won’t be allowed to met their parents and relatives.(in Punjab). Fewer girls are well educated like boys , mostly girls are not even passed their secondary schooling. Women like Smt Indra Gandhi , Kalpana Chawla and Kiran Bedi are very few just because of gender discrimination. Also women are not equally pay to men at their job. Women always get less pay than men even they are working on the same designation having same qualification and work experience. Labor law in several developing countries actually discouraging women because they are pay 27% less than men. People are more educated today but gender discrimination factor still there . A woman is a foundation of the family and society . We cannot imagine a world without women n girls. But it is found that the current ratio of females and males- 927/1000. In Jaipur , population near about 2million people , 3500 sex-determined cases are found out every year. Sex-selective abortions are more common than infanticides in India. They are growing ever more frequent as technology makes it simple and cheap to determine a fetus' gender. Ratio of female/male-927/1000 is just due to infanticide and sex-based abortions in India. In India if a woman choose her husband with her own desire her parents and society hardly accept her. A woman who got divorce ,society always abuse her, people misbehave with her. All these activities brought dishonor to her family. So gender discrimination by parents , family ,society ,country is a big issue in this world . |

| maryc | I think a woman can keep better peace than a man anyday. They say woman are more emotional, however; isn't our president constantly using cocaine (highly proven facts from the military) to keep HIS emotionalism of peace at hand? | 6/1/2008 |
