Patricia King I have become very allergic since going through the menopause. Now highly allergic to anything with sulphites (especially wine) - allergic to anything with peanuts or soya in it and general allergies like perfume, dust, cat hair etc - seem to have a lot of aches and pains in joints and neck and back of head - other than that - I'm fine - 10/27/2009

Betty H. This is really making me think through my own allergies. I am 47 years old. I have just recently been tested and diagnosed with food allergies. The same food that I grew in my own garden. I can tomatoes and green beans. I have cans in my basement that I can no longer eat for fear of another anaphylactic reaction. The list is long. Green Beans, squash, carrots, tomatoes, potatoes, sweet potatoes, mellons, soy, nuts, wheat, rye, corn, chicken, crab. I had four anaphylactic episodes in 6 months. Two episodes were seven days apart. I now carry an epi pen with me at all times.
I had a historectomy about 6 years ago but I still have my ovaries. I will be speaking with my gyn about this article. I hope this is the answer to my adult onset of allergies. I am tired of hearing my children say "Mom is it o.k. if you eat that? or thinking when I am at the store what foods are on the list that I can not have.
Thank You,
Betty Jane
