James To anyone who wishes to experiment by using this plant Datura as an hallcegenic, I advise you not too, I chewed only 1 or 2 of its flowers 17 years ago, and had the worst trip of my life, which lasted almost 18 hours, during which I attempted to kill myself by throwing myself out of a window of a building I was in, just to escape the nightmare, which I can still remember thinking during this thing is never going to end.
I also believe that I have been brain burnt slightly from this experience.		 12/11/2010

Janet in BC I'm looking for the correct dosages to use with the datura plant, which grows in my yard. The article mentions the leaves need to be roasted to produce painkilling effects, but does not suggest possible amounts to use, or which amounts would result in overdose. I realize different people require different dosages, however medical dosages are generally estimated by bodyweight. Also, how does one then ingest the roasted leaves? Are they eaten, smoked, steeped to make a tea, or what? 8/24/2010
Gillian l first saw Datura in Spain, l also grew seeds along came beautiful scented pink and some peac h coloured flowers my garden smelt lovely in the evenings, l was not aware that the plant was toxic, but to my amazement l now have plants growing again after 3 years in my garden after l got rid of the others being toxic should l destroy these l have a irregular heart beat could this plant be harmful to me and make my condition worse 5/9/2010

Steve O'Connor STAY AWAY from this DEADLY PLANT!
In 1976 When I was 17yrs old I was in Dunedin New-Zealand. I was given a bottle of this stuff. Apparently they boiled the leaves of this plant to make a drug out of it. I was entertaining a girl one night and a barman gave it to me to try out. Try out - it neally killed us. How dumb was I to even try this stuff without doing some homework on it first . We went back to my place this girl and I and I half filled two glasses with this Datura liquid and waited to see what would happen. Well I didn't have to wait long probably half an hour and then things happened. First of all I thought my new girlfriend had cut off her fingers (she had red nail polish on) but I was out of it. I wraped her hands up with towels. Then I thought I was smoking a cigarette but when I went to put it in the ash tray - it disappeared into thin air. Then everyone was comming in the door so seeing I had a dozen bottles of beer I open them as everyone arrived. Gee! I could go on but you get my drift. Next morning, I woke up on the couch with records all over the floor and a dozen opened bottles of beer still full, not even a mouthful taken out of them I was in the horrors, I woke up my new girlfriend or should I say Ex-new girlfriend (She was nicked off something fierce) plus she was supposed to be home at mid-night. I tell ya' what never again I told the barman when I seen him to go and get - well and truely (to be polite). Anyway when I got my bearings I sat down to read the news-paper. Gee! I couldn't read the print it was blurry and that lasted a couple of days. Anyway that's my lot - never again did I ever touch that stuff again. I suppose now that I think about it I'm lucky we both survived the ordeal. If anyone ever offers this to you say NO.		 5/7/2008
