Experts say the vast majority of 'email brides' are scams designed to lure Western men into parting with cash. Nick Paton Walsh reports.

Kris. I must confess I am amazed that there is anyone left who would fall for this.

Some simple devices can avert much waste: If she asks for money for a plane ticket offer to buy the ticket this end and send it to her; if she baulks at this it is highly likely a scam.

Check whether fees; and assureties are actually required - it costs a 'phone call.

If someone 'phones you saying you've won a lottery you've never heard of but have to pay an adminstration fee, suggest that they pay the fee and take double from the money when it comes through - and send the rest to you!! (I really like that one.)
