Carol The real truth is the corporations do not want to be sued by the consumer that buy their products.The corporations pays the research people big money to do the research on dogs,cats,exc. Example at a certain university in Michigan the physiolgists do cardic research on dogs.The physiolgists operate on the dogs,and install cathers,and pacemakers two weeks later the dogs runs on a treadmill.The physiologists gives the dogs kidney faliure. That go on for 4-12 months if the dog lives that long.And anyone that knows dog anatomy understands that a dog has a weaker heart compared to a human heart.The dog physiology,and anatomy is different then a human's. 1/14/2012

callie If animal testing keeps going for generations i would like to say one thing they can stop and needs to stop now, animals like dogs ans cats dont need to go threw all of that, maybe rats and other small animals but not monkeys, rabbits,cats,dogs, pigs. zuri animal testing has saved billions of lives. It has contributed to the development of many vaccines, insulin, and drugs with high mortality rates such as cancer. Also, animals with short lives are good to use for researching. Unlike human volunteers, scientists can test clinical trials at many different stages of life in a short period of time. Furthermore, a vast majority of testing utilizes mild experiments that tend to compromise a small injection or a blood sample. Although unfortunately some animals do die in testing, researchers put forth an effort to cause minimal harm to animals. think about it, providing the animals with unjust treatment would cause them to not be able to do further research. they want to keep the animals alive so they can continue researching, and they have to treat the animals fairly so that PEDA and other organizations wont threaten their jobs. 11/8/2010

I saw a peta commercial that spoke out against animal testing and it made me cry so hard to see a poor baby monkey with its eyes sown shut. THAT IS TORTURE. Jake Why do people animal test? I don't get it! It doesn't even work! 90% of people who tried animal tested products either get a serious illnes or die. IF IT DOESN'T WORK, THEN WHY BOTHER DOING IT?! There was this guy who I met who was, like, "animals were brought into this world to dominate! Gosh, why are these idots against animal testing". Tori I am sure that not one mentally right person wants to be poked and prodded with needles and have potentially harmful chemicals injected into them causing physical/mental disabilities and maybe even death. Think about the golden rule- Treat others the way you want to be treated, if you wouldn't want potentially harmful chemicals tested on you them why should we test them on animals. Do you really think that if animal testing actually worked we would still have millions of people suffering from cancer, AIDS, and other deathly diseases? I do believe that killing an animal for its meat is cruelty but i strongly believe that killing an animal for its meat is less painful for the Animal. And plus its better killing an animal for its meat because its for our own health if we go on killing INNOCENT animals for animal testing would we have enough animals to eat? Courtney animal testing is uneccessary not to mention unnaccurate. Because animals and humans are so different it makes it difficult to determine the exact reaction some substance mey have on a human. Anyway wouldn't you think that if there were more effective ways of determining the safety of a product/ingriedient/substance etc, that testing companies may consider using them? Well they don't tend to, they use the cheapest proccess even though it may not determine an accurate result. There are more effective ways to determine product safety, such as taking human skin cells or whatever (which by he way does not involve killing or harming any being) and then testing the product etc on those cells. This gives a more precise result as the product etc, has been tested on human tissue, which the product is likely to be intended for if it is of a cosmetics company doing the testing. If the product is intended for human use why test it on something that won't grant an accurate result? If these substances are harmful in the first place should we really be using them?
the Draize Eye Irritancy test is the most commonly used animal testing procedure. Products/substances etc, are put directly into the animal's eye, (generally rabbits are used for this test because they don't produce as many tears as many other animals, so the substance can't be washed away as easily and the reaction will be seen more readily) and the reaction taken note of. Their is usually no pain reliaf and the animal is usually constrained so that it cannot attempt to get rid of the substance and they often break their necks trying to escape.
On the label of many products you will see that it says to avoid eye contact, i wonder what for? No one in their right mind would drip soap or shampoo into their eye and if you've done it accidentally you know that it hurts and so it's common sense to avoid it the next time.
Why are we provided with and why do we use products that could cause serious damage?
The Lethal Dose test is used to determine how much of a substance it will take to kill. Hence the, "lethal". Animals are forced to consume etc, substances in certain amounts until the animal dies.
BOTH OF THESE TESTS ARE NOT REQUIRED BY LAW but are continued to be used. These are not the only tests that are used, just go on google and search stuff, you'll get heaps of results. Warning though, some of the stuff you'll find can be pretty graphic.
If your looking for products and companies that don't animal test do your research before you buy and don't always trust the label. Some products may say that it has not been tested on animals but that does not mean that the ingredients have not been animal tested or it could also mean that the final product hasn't been tested but that the company has changed a minute amount of an ingriedient after the testing proccess and therefore they are able to state that their final product has not been tested on animals. Long story short... the product has been tested on animals in some way or another.
Some companies that claim that their products are not animal tested may comission testing labratories or other companies to do their testing for them. (The company selling the products is paying some other company to animal test for them so that the selling company can get away with saying that their product/s aren't tested on animals, without doing anything illegally). Companies use these schemes in order to make potential customers want to buy their products. Come on, people would be very reluctant to buy a product that said it was animal tested vs. a product that isn't.
Cosmetic companies are probably the leaders when it comes to animal testing, for the simple fact they have to find a way to know if the products are safe to use especially as they are generally going to be used on humans and they are generally in contact with our skin. L'OREAL, Maybelline, Max Factor etc all the major store brands tend to be animal tested, and The Body Shop used to be the place to go to buy cruelty free products, but guess what, they are now owned by L'OREAL! Argh! It is very frustrating. (need to do more research on this, not sure yet what their testing procedures are after being owned by L'OREAL or whatever).
Animal testing wont stop unless we do something about it, (ah hem! boycott testing companies and don't buy products that are tested on animals, spread the word !:))

inocent animals are harmed for our matiarialistic thngs, half the things we test on, we dont need to test on animals (ie. cosmetics, household cleaning prouducts, and personal ccare.) different types of prouducts results very on different species. some prouducuts could be harmful to animals but not human. were not the same.
animals are compainions. when loss of faamily/ friends people get a pet to keep them company. if your blind people get animals to lead them with their keen scence of smell, we are wasting that on testing.
in a short period of time species that are often tested on (ie rodents such as rabbits rats mice guinnea pigs and much more) could end up extinct.
there are many more reasons why i am against animal testing but i cant name them all.

Lollipop_ Animal testing is wrong, because animals systems and humans systems are two completely different things. The things that effect the human bodies don't effect the animal bodies. Cures for the animals aren't cures for the humans.

When you blind animals for your own beauty, do you think that will help you become anymore beautiful? How do you think that animal felt? Surely it wasn't glad that it could help you become more beautiful, because that animal is dead.

If the test doesn't kill the animal, then they are killed by the people who tested on the animal. The animals didn't choose to be tested on, they were taken from their own homes to be tested on. It'd be like you being taken from the home that you feel more comfortable in grabbed by a pair if hands that mean you harm, pump chemicals into your body, get forced to inhale smoke, experimental surgies that could go wrong and kill you, or stuffed into tiny cages, nasty enviroments, or abused?

Animal testing is wrong. Test on humans, that way the cures are sure to work. Pump chemicals into your own stomach, kill yourself, whatever. Stop the animal testing, unless you intend on putting yoruself through as much pain that they are in.
