Illegal Workers a Key Issue for Republican Candidates

It does not take long to establish what Mitt Romney regards as one of the defining issues of the 2008 presidential race. On the front of his campaign leaflets he is pictured standing beside a huge fence on the US-Mexican border

Cohen Hmm, immigration and the Confederate flag are shaping out to be the main issues for voters in South Carolina. Translation: this is a bigoted, disgusting place, full of KKK monsters. Disgusting. And they keep wandering why "civilized" America still makes fun of the South. 1/18/2008
Bettybb Are we going to be a nation of laws or not? It is that simple.

The "elite" wants cheap taxpayer subsidized labor, but only from Mexico ( legal immigrants need not apply). Why? They are pushing a North American Union agenda and want open borders. The "elite" is making huge profits off of free trade and Nafta and they want to continue. The American middle class is being wiped out.

And no one is talking about the USA Constitution which bans discrimination on the basis of race and national origin, and provides that all Americans are to receive equal protection under the law. Any amnesty is basiscally for Hispanics, one race, and discriminates against Americans of all other races. Amnesty is not even close to being legal. So the Dems can really say anything they want and pander to the Hispanics. However, in doing so, it looks like the Dems may lose the Black vote.

But big business, the politicans, and the media are almost in hysterics because Americans are not buying their "spin". Everything they say is wrong. It has now been proven that illegals are taking American jobs, are depressing American wages, and that they will self deport if the law is enforced. Their effect on the eocnomh is almost nil.

JanetP I hope all South Carolinians will remember that John McCain, along with Lindsey Graham, were the chief proponents of the amnesty bill for illegal immigrants. Every time you 'press one for English,' read the Spanish signs in your neighborhoods, or try to maneuver around the pet chickens fouling your neighborhoods, remember that McCain and Graham want to give them amnesty for breaking into the country and award them citizenship. I know McCain says it is not amnesty if they pay a fine; well they will probably collect $10,000 in welfare benefits while they are paying the $5000 fine. It is amnesty no matter what he tries to name it. 1/16/2008
