The Corruption in the Christian Prosperity Message

The Christian message of prosperity has been twisted in the minds of even the most devout believers, especially some involved in mega-churches and televangelist ministries.

David "The true givers are those who faithfully give in membership and tithe as a sacrifice, without the promise of return."

Not true, that's not what Jesus said, nor is that anything like what God said. The bible says that when we give, we should expect a harvest. However, that shouldn't be our FINAL intention. Our will is to sow the Blessing of God into other people's lives and reap a good harvest. Why? So that we can sow more; it's a continual cycle.

By the way, I love the prosperity message because it's what God's plan is for us. God created us to be special and, yes, to live in absolute extravagance. Why don't people read the bible and observe how God lives? And Galatians says that I'm an heir to his throne and that God is my daddy thank you very much. You can't have what you preach against. If you preach against the prosperity message, it's simple, you ain't gettin it. Preach against living in extravagance, it's simple, you ain't getting that either.

Tressa That sounds along the right track, but can you give more verses? 10/9/2009
Jenny Sister, I agree with what you have written. The late Kenneth Hagin Sr. also touches on the same thing in "the Midas Touch" a balanced biblical teaching on a subject that has caused so much confusion. 9/11/2008
Lucy I completely agree with your message. Like with so many things today, the people take a simple message and twist it and turn it to what we want it to be. The only saving grace for some of these mega-ministries or big time televangelist will be at the judgement when their actions are weighed and what they have truly done to help and share their prosperity. May you continue to be blessed. 7/13/2008
Dawn I completely agree with Ms. Maldonado's opinion! I'm sitting her listening to a t.v. evangelist speak about prosperity...yet I have not heard that we are to bless with the blessings. Thank you for your well written article. 6/24/2008
Mary Schminky Great article. I wish more people had that view point. I understand that the ministries who travel all the time want their own airplane, but give me a break on having gold plumbing fixtures and $23,000 toilets. Good scripture reference in Acts. Matthew 6;33, "Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you." He is always faithful to meet our needs and alot of our wants. If you have Him first, you want to share with others. 4/14/2008
Larry Many do not know-haven't heard, pursued, ignored, feared-that salvation is an eternal whole man regeneration. Salvation is prosper and success in spirit, soul, and flesh. It is the abundant life. It includes more than we ask, think, imagine. It is the natural and supernatural. Present and eternal. Now and forever.
To prosper is not to be feared. All regenerated people can handle prosper and success. I am defining Biblical spiritual success, not the English dictionary definition. Blessed, fruitful, multiply, subdue, dominion over earth creation. To abound. To bless the world. To fulfill the promises of God. To live free and fit. Full of faith and faithful.
To send and support the gospel to the nations of the world for the coming King and Kingdom. It is unselfish success and does not have to be feared. It is in spiritual dna, new nature, heir, inheritance. That is NOW and THEN.
...then you will make your way prosperous and then you will have good success...AMEN
