David H. I offer the following:
Wild Rats do not carry the plague. Fleas carry plague and most animals carry fleas. A Wild Rat is unlikely to present any more danger to health than any wild animal.
Wild Rats are not agressive. They are defensive if threatened.
Black Rats are classifed as Rattus Rattus. Only Brown Rats are classified as Rattus Norvegicus.

Frances I liked your presentation on wild rats, but you are forgetting that most plagues like the bubonic plague was spread not by the Rat but by the FLEA. also, there is the domesticated rat to consider, the only other Main species of rat. They are completely domesticated and are very clean. In fact i have 2 5 week olds. 2/10/2009
Vickie Davis I have Rats. They came because of the food I put out for the birds, etc. Now the rats are
burrowing everywhere out side. Because I don't want to poison them, I have delayed
doing anything about them. Is there anyone who could trap them and relocate them?
