Elise H Lol I'm at that stage right now; my dad said I could paint my room black [by which I was really surprised], but my mum said Absolutely Not [which I was...not surprised by, lol]. Those are some good ideas.
What about
a/ painting one wall black
b/ stretching black fabric over the wall
c/ black carpet and curtains [maybe a tad expensive for just a phase though]
d/ paint furniture black
e/ black patterned wallpaper with another colour too

But hey...seeing as though I'm a fourteen year old, here's a little teenage insight...it's pretty easy to paint over and get rid of; it's a way of expressing individuality; they probably had to put up with your colour schemes when they were little; and it's their room; and it's a good colour...shade. whatever...so yeah.		 9/28/2008
Crystal thank you so much for these tips, my 13 year old has been driving me crazy during the planning of redecorating her room and i was afraid of spending to much (especially since i don't like this look) but this seems very affordable and not bad looking 7/5/2008
Cathy Most parents aren't as easy going as you are. Since this is a "phase" that teens go through most people don't want to turn the room into a dungeon only to have to repaint it a year or two later. And painting over black walls is not fun. Tara My daughter's walls are painted dark gray, and her border & ceiling are black. Practically all of the furniture in her room is black, and if it wasn't, she painted it black. I see nothing wrong with a teenager wanting black walls in their bedroom. If it's what they want, then I say, sure why not? They're not harming anyone by doing so. 1/28/2008
