I am so confused, I have MS and my gallbladder is very badly diseased, I need my gallbladder to be removed but because I have MS the consultants will not do it and say I must try and control it by diet alone, any suggestions to keep me healthy please. |

This is great information and should be followed by everyone. We would all be much happier and healthier. As I look around, I see so many people overweight and of course the junk food is so popular in our culture and it's cheap. Many don't realize just how dangerous it can be to their health. My husband is realizing that he needs to listen to his wife, who has better common sense about foods and diet. |

I've had gallbladder pain for about 6 months. By switching to a low-fat, very low cholesterol diet, my pain is gone and I feel better, in general. However, my gallbladder is still full of stones--one slip off of my diet and I'm in discomfort. When I've lost some weight, I still plan to have my gall bladder removed to avoid complications (like cancer). |

My General Surgeon has advised me not to eat apples or drink apple juice. He also mentioned do not eat bananas or peanut butter. Drinks to avoid included coffee at the top of the list. Meats to avoid were pork and turkey. Please advise. Thank you. |

This is exactly what I was looking for. The Dr. didn't even know exactly what foods. Thanks guys, you have no idea how much this is going to help. Have been in hosp. about 5x in year, the last 2x have been in last 2 wks. This dr. wants to help (thank goodness) and is doing tests etc. and suspects gallbladder, and just said "stay away from fat". So thank you so much. |

I just googled Tumeric cause I wasnt sure of what exactly it was, and the web site I looked at said this : People with gallbladder disease should avoid using turmeric as a dietary supplement as it may worsen the condition. So its cool to season with it but not to take it daily? I got the info from the NCCAM website |

The gallbladder diet listed above is completely unsupported by actual information. A list of good and bad food does not constitute an informational article about how to adjust your diet because of gall bladder conditions. Considering that the majority of the foods on the bad list are not high fat foods they require an explanation of what makes foods good or bad. Advice such as "avoid foods above a certain percentage of calories from fat" would have been much more helpful than an arbitrary list of food. |

I'm having surgery to remove my gallbladder in a few months. I found this article by doing an internet search in hopes of finding what type of diet I should follow to minimize gall bladder pain while I await my surgery. There is no information in this article about the source of the lists - is there any science behind this advice? The author of the article does not have any scientific training that would indicate she has expertise in this field. |

There are some foods I don't see listed as either good or bad for the liver and gall bladder. They are: Sunflower seeds, limes, soy sauce, worcestershire sauce, carob, spirulina, dates, pineapple and non-alcoholic "beer". What about these?
Thank you |

this article was helpful.. but for you gallbladder sufferers like me here are some other things you may want to try...
Hood fat-free milk that's made to taste like 2% ( I couldn't have any dairy before but this one works for me)
smartbeat cheese- no fat, cholest, or sat fat.. just doesn't really taste like anything but at least the smell helps if you're a cheese lover..lol Orange juice... better if followed by a glass of water
Baked potato with a little biit of soy sauce on it
All kinds of oatmeal except creamy ones
Pretzels
applesauce
english muffins with jelly
low fat dry cereals
try the original big biscut shredded wheat with a tiny bit of the fat free milk, and a little sugar~ microwaved.. it's a lot better than you would think
salad as long as there's no red cabbage and steer clear of tomatoes.. I used lite blush wine vinegar dressing.. really tasty!
fat free or low fat fudgsicles.. really good and found I could eat as many as I wanted.. no cholesterol or sat. fat in them
saltines unsalted tops.. cholesterol free, low sat. fat
New york brand pizzeria dipping sticks- garlic and parmesan ones.. as long as you limit amount and don't use sauce
half a twix bar a day for those chocolate cravings ( I'm pregnant so I should know..lol)
Baked Apples with boiled carrots .. good together..
Health smart bisquick pancake mix.. cholest free.. low fat.. just stinks there can't be butter
egg whites in moderation
fruit/cereal bars
and if all else fails try baby food.. I was using that until I found some other stuff.. If I find anything else I'll post again.. hope it helps..]
ps some people can have skinless boneless chicken breast.. here's a good marinade
bottle of wishbone italian dressing soy sauce Marinate in fridge for two hours then grill.. also pretty yummy |

If you're supposed to avoid red meat, pork, and fowl... what is left? Where should we get our protein if legumes are also on the bad list? I read that a diet too low in protein and high in sugar can also cause gall bladder disease. |

This advise neglects to tell people that Gall stones can lead to Gall bladder cancer, at this time it cannot be curred. My father now has gall bladder cancer because he was told to just watch his diet. Do not give incomplete advise. |
