micah you are somewhat mistaken about the black snake / copperhead thing. Of course it is not possible for them to mate, but there are very small breeding populations of black copperheads in the appalachian mountains. These are a fairly recent "discovery" but have long been known to us mountain folk. 2/25/2011

Troy B On 8-11-08 a copperhead about a foot and a half in length had bitten my dog (a syberian husky) on the face and it swelled severly and made her kind of sick. She weighed about 45 lbs. and around a year and a half old. I searched the net to see if there was any home remedies because the snake bite happened on a monday after all the vets were closed and I couldnt find any vets to take house calls. unfortunely i couldnt find anything on the net, if anyone has any sugestions about dog bites please post them. 8/11/2008
