r. m. naterlin i have just read a lot of these comments and it scares me that my fellow americans have such a hard time to reason in a spiritual way. the japanese as a whole did not attack america and even the army did not do it for no good reason. they had a reason. the military extremists pretty much ran the country. when you deviate from retaliating against those who commit the crime its an attack on innocents. vengeance is mine says the lord. as you do it unto others so will it be done unto you. 2/5/2012
r. m. naterlin just read an article in The American Thinker and it aggravated me. common sense tells you that there was something diabolical and sick about the decision to use the bombs whether japan surrendered or not. have we become so morally gutted that in modern times we cannot get our heads around the magnitude of using such a weapon on civilians and children and babies.? does a simple and weak reason from our government satisfy our conscious ? they would not surrender. its hard for a baby to surrender. the children did not attack pearl harbor. the women did not rape nanking. do unto others as you would have done unto you america. 2/5/2012

William Whichever way you dress it up it was a crime against humanity, strange from a nation that continually bangs on about war crimes of a lesser nature elsewhere on the planet... 4/29/2011

justin evans anita they did bomb pearl habor but we could have just cauld a meating and i think we should have done this because they did this cause we stoped giving them oil 3/15/2011
justin evans we should have taken more reasonable actions with this cause now we have so much land that has not recovered japan from this now dont get me wrong they should have bombed us but we should have not reacted like this 3/15/2011

Jim For each "1" we lost at Pearl in 1941,Japan lost "90" at Hiroshima and Nagasaki in1945. It would seem to me they really should not have awaken the sleeping giant. And for the countries who are against the USA now a days. Keep in mind history has a way of repetting itself. Just a thought. 2/27/2011
Alexia Harry S. Truman ordered the bomb because he wanted to save American Soldier lives but i think he did that because he wanted America to win and in order to do that you have to have American soldiers.

Thank You P.S you did not include that inside the passage

anita It was unfortunate that such a weapon had to be used. However, we have to remember that Pearl Harbor was an atrocity- so was the Japanese invasion and treatment of CHINA. My uncle(mother's brother) died on a ship at the hands of the Japanese- I never knew him. It was necessary to end the war. Remember how the Japanese tortured American prisoners? Hopefully, it will never happen again, but with some of our enemies today, I think that it could. The Japanese have come a long way since then. Japan has even apologized for its aggression to other nations. 10/27/2010

Lemayan Wilson That was a clear destruction of humanity, such acts should be avoided at all cost. human life is precious and needs to be valued.Thank you. 8/24/2010
Israel Dalven Many Americans believe the Japanaese were given enough time to surrender after the first bomb. In addition, one must consider that the Japanese started a cruel war of conquest and intentionally caused many more deaths among the Chinese and Korean peoples. But the main issue before the US was what was the alternative. The invasion of Japanese inhabited islands showed the Japanese were ready to fight with pitchforks and commit suicide against invaders. Many more Japanese (not to mention Americans) would have been killed in a land invasion. War is Hell and the Japanese started it. 8/16/2010
Yaah. Thanks, this helped. You have really good information, especially with the naming of the different effects, and with having comments from the people is really good. 7/21/2010

Marty It was Harry S Truman. Not Harry S. Truman. Their was no middle name, only an S, so no period after the S! 4/18/2010

micheal why doesnt your storie match others? i was told by a man that was in the air force woking on the project that the temp of the ground reached 20 million degrees and the air temp reached 15 million degrees in a matter of a milliseconds of impact and the rapid cooling process then begain and it cooled to 10 million degrees (which is what you said) in about 30 minutes. this happened because the ground heat acted like an oven which caused the ground to reach these high levels of heat and heat rises so the air temp could cool faster than the ground temp then caused the ground to act like an ice box
