Noise Pollution

Ironically, the subject of noise pollution is one of the most silent of all forms of pollutions. But, this little spoken-about form of pollution is nevertheless causing as many health issues as the other forms of pollution do. Here is a brief synopsis of the various causes, health effects and control measures of noise pollution.

Neil Good to hear from you and to see that you read my article. Trees act as buffers for noise, and it is best to have dense foliage in them. For that matter, any trees with thick leaves will do. Also, they should be tall enough. One idea is to have a closely packed row or two of dense trees and then a line of hedgerow in front, about a man's height. If you are trying to noise-proof your home, try planting a row of trees on three sides around it, with a line of shrubs in front. Or, along the roadside, a continuous line of trees on either side will help.

There is nothing like a specific species of trees that can absorb sound better than others; they all do well if they have big and thick leaves.
