someone S here's some other punishments and info.
Ordeal by Fire
A person burnt with red hot iron bar, they were given the iron bar and had to walk three steps (If you dropped it or went really fast you had to do it again).It was usually the hand you worked with that was burnt. They were then bandaged to stop the bleeding and left for three days. If the wound was better after the 3 days then you were innocent, if not u were guilty.
Ordeal by Water
An accused person was tied up (most of the time you were tied onto a chair) and thrown into the water. If you floated you were guilty of the thing that you did. If you drowned then you were innocent, when you drowned someone would usually dive down and get you.
Ordeal by Combat
Used by noblemen, only noblemen could do this. They would fight with the one that accused them. Whoever won was right, whoever lost was usually dead at the end of the fight.
Trial by Jury and Torture
In 1215, pope decieded priest must not help with ordeals. Ordeals were by trials by juries. Most people didn’t like this because neighbors might use the opportunity of a trial to get their revenge.1275 a new law was introduced that people could be tortured if they refused to do a trial before a jury.
