Determining Hard Disk Failure

Hard disk crash? Invalid File Tables? Bad sectors? How do you tell that you actually are suffering from a hard disk crash or just a corrupted Windows system file?

Maureen This was extremely helpful! I hear 3 clicks when the hard disk is trying to boot and then it cannot be read. I think the failure occurred when I was installing fedora and they was a power cut with some of the packages already installed. If that was not all, I began the process again and there was another power cut! Now my drive is not being read. 7/11/2009
