There are some cool names on this page but I think the idea that a girl has to have a name that implies something soft or gentle is a really outdated way of thinking.		 6/8/2010
D Also, Eden= quite simply, heaven.
Hannah/ Jana/ Khana/ Chana (not Hanne)= compassionate and graceful/ God is compassionate and gracious.
Liesl, Liesse, Lisette, Gianne, Vida, Vanni and many more= Are not Hebrew names.
Surie/ Suri= Means the color Red/ a rose, only in Farsi. it bears no meaning in Hebrew other than "Syrian".
Zora/ Zoe/ Zorica= Dawn, only in Slavic languages. in Hebrew- Shahar/ Shakhar/ Shachar.
Vardis= I have no idea what that means, but VERED is indeed a rose. and so is Shoshanna.
Sahar= a crescent.
Tao/ Dao= Way/ path/ principle/ the true nature of life.
Yelena= Of Russian origins, not Hebrew. I'm not sure what it means though.		 5/24/2010
D I spotted a few mistakes regarding to the origins and meanings of some of the names. the ones that seem to really stick out are Xaviere- which is clearly not an Arabic name, and Yael- which is indeed hebrew, but has quite a different meaning than "a goat" (why would anyone name their girl "a goat"?). Yael is actually the name of a heroine in the old testament's book of jugdes. 5/24/2010
