Genesis I have a German Shepherd puppy that her mom turned her back on her too young and she missed out on crucial training, like not to defecate where you sleep and eat. I am doing crate training with her and i have another dog that is also crate trained and had no problem with her. My puppy was removed from her mothers care at 3weeks old since mom went nutty and quit making milk then turned on the puppies. No matter how often i let her out or if i feed her in or out of her kennel she still urinates and defecates right next to or on her food. I am confused and not sure on what to do? She almost gives no sign of when she has to go except for she squats and does it at that moment. Can someone help me with some advice? 11/27/2009

'No matter how well trained your dog is bound to be, refusing to let them out as often as necessary is a surefire way to get your potty training methods to backfire on you big time.'

and I couldn't agree more. We're dealing with an animal, not a robot. We have a responsibility to know the needs of our dog, to sense his feelings, and understand his messages to us. I've got some thoughts on this in a free dog training book I've written and give away to caring owners at dogtraining-books.info. But my main thought would be that the more we respond intelligently and with genuine friendship to our dog the more he will respond to us similarly. Right?
