Call Center Crimes: A Desperate Call For Help

Death by Negligience, Sexual Molestation and Choking Laws, no this is not a sleazy joint out of a action movie, its what life is for a call center employee in India. Take Note. Now. Or it'll be too late.

Roy yea.. the third world war is not gonna be on the battlefield, it will be in the corporate boardroom! 11/7/2007
Madhavi Ha! Dream on! That mentality will take about 100 years to go away, by my estimation - about as long as the angrez ruled over India - its been socially engineered into our genes by generations of people who were slaves under the gora saheb! 11/7/2007
Roy I think this thing would come down only when every damn professional understands that the company is not buying him or her, its buying their nine or eight hours of the day and their services... its not buying them as slaves! 11/5/2007
Roy Its of course us, the employees. But the rut starts right from the suit to the chappal yaar. But you and I both know that nothing's gonna happen about all this. 11/5/2007
Madhavi hey Roy, didnt know you worked in a call center once! well, if you want to, check out my article on my blog about BPOs being modern day sweatshops.

Oh and yes, I do agree with all the points you've made in your article. Believe me, been there, done that - or should I say, seen that...about 2.5 years of BPO experience inside of moi - 1 for a data processing non-voice process and the remaining for a voice process....You are so right and so on the mark!

Read today's Times where they are talking about creating Unions for the employees - a step in the right direction, no?

I have seen drivers sleep in the cars for days on end because of shifts that they have had to work and the paltry pay they get is something one shouldnt talk about, i suppose!

Apparently there is a fixed amount of expenditure alloted per car and this is inclusive of cost of salary of each driver and the expenses on car repair. Besides which the owner wants his profit. So tell me, who suffers in the end?
