Why Do Women Want To Be Equal?

I have been dominated by strong women all my life. So I ask this question with all humility and sincerity. Why do women want to be equal?

Nina There is a difference between wanting equality, and wanting to be a man. We, or most of us, wish to be on the same terms as men. Our feminine wiles mean nothing is the only thing they are good for is seducing men. For where will that get us in the world? Will it put food on our families plates? Will it get us a better salary on the pay roll? Most of the time the answer is flat out no. What good is it if men only see it fit to idolize us, put us on pedestals, and not to mention see us to weak to handle the real world. We are not trophies to hang on your arm. And though I'm not quite sure where chivalry suddenly came from but really? "Why is the modern woman so recklessly ready to give up the courtesies that have been due to her for millennia?" Our dues? What having a man be chivalrous to us is our payment for all these years of sexism? I'm not buying it. 12/11/2009
Laxmi I absolutely love this article, and am completely with you on this. I have always been having these views, and now, my own thoughts have been articulately expressed - really glad to see this! 8/16/2009
Q Women demand equality in the workplace and in the home. That's what equality means. I swear some men (and women) are so stupid sometimes. Chivalry means that you can behave like a gentleman, but it doesn't mean treating a woman like a second class citizen. Please understand "equality" before you post about because you three and the poster sound really stupid right now. 7/2/2008
Roy Chivalry is like ok.. but what about the female equality that women cry about all their lives? Why do they get all these 'we understand' gaze when they talk about how they have to make tea before leaving for work? Like.. its making tea man, warm some water, put the tea powder, add sugar, and keep it.. what's the big deal??? 11/4/2007
Madhavi You make a very interesting point in your aricle!
As a woman, I am all for Chivalry being recalled into the lives of the men I go out with!

Roy Well... female equality... i think it's time that men cry out loud about not being equal!! Women of course are nowadays thinking that they're a gallantry award or something that has to be won, and the modern man doesn't have time for the chutzpah, and those who have, have it becoz they have it. 11/3/2007
