| Craig S | Dave T the bees come to your pool because it may be the only source of water around, put in a bird bath that way the bees can land on the side and then get the water they need to cool the hive | 12/3/2011 |
| Dave T | These days the bees come to my pool to drink. they break the surface tension and drown. Countless dozens are drowning in my pool alone. Also most pools have all kinds of strange chemicals in them. Algicide is very bad for animals. I think this weakens the bees |

| Wanda S | I have just mulched my garden with seaweed - 2 days later there are so many bees on the mulch I am almost too scared to go out and garden , any ideas why this is ? I live in NZ. | 11/9/2011 |
| Craig S | Just a thought. I have heard that beekeepers in the USA feed thier bee's in winter using High Fractose Corn Syrup. Corn Syrup made from GM corn, manipulated to produce a BT toxin to kill a common pest. Is it possibe this toxin finds it's way into the HFCS and poisons the bees. If I have to feed my bees here in Australia I use good old sugar, yeah might cost a bit more but hey no dead bees | 11/6/2011 |

| Eli Innis | If you have a beehive and would like to shield it from electromagnetic radiation, simply wrap it with foil. For added protection stake a wire into the ground and connect it to your foil lining. A large galvanized or stainless steel nail or screw hammered into the ground would do the trick. Other metals would do fine but might rust sooner. Copper and iron tend to corrode. You'd have to replace them eventually if they do. Instead of foil, you could use a fine-mesh metal screen or some sheet metal if you so choose. I just say foil because you 'prolly already have some in your house. Make sure it's secured so the wind doesn't blow it off, say with some weatherproof caulking or other weatherproof glue. I would 'prolly look for something like 100% Silicone. If it says "safe for food contact" or it's made for sealing aquariums, that's cool. I'd think it to have less of the industrial solvents in there that might interfere with a bee. If you use a metal that is prone to rust, be sure to paint it where it's exposed, but make sure the metal on the lid can touch the side without any paint in the way. Leave that bare so it makes contact. Be sure to leave enough space for the bees to get in and out, and be certain to leave enough space for ventilation. Air is good. We don't want to suffocate them in there. They can regulate the temperature if you let them. Bees can always fill in gaps if they need to, but they can't make the air gaps any bigger if you don't make 'em big enough to begin with. This is especially true in the wintertime, as moisture can freeze in there. The idea of the foil wrap is that the electromagnetic radiation will stay outside of your box, especially if you connect this to the ground. Look up "Faraday cage" on Google or Wikipedia. |

| Kenneth Catron | Just like killer bees were "created" in order to increase honey production I think the same scientists were trying to come up with a way to control killer bees and have affected all the bees with an HIV type disease. So many experiments are done without anyone in the general public knowing anything and so many cover-ups happen when they go wrong. How long was it before we knew of killer bees. Scientists were working on ways to kill mosquitoes and no one knew of the high frequency satellite killer. Before they got stupid and turned it on they realized that this would kill the food chain, but who is to know they didn't use it already. As I mention the HIV type disease for bees I also feel that HIV was also created as a "chemical weapon" spread by the populous to reduce populations of poor countries and was let loose, either by accident or on purpose, and spread uncontrollably. So many diseases were created in a test tube under government control or funding that are never mentioned to the public. Those creations will be the death of us all. The fight should be to get back to nature and stop trying to genetically alter foods, animals, and insects. All of this not only effects the world but it also causes hormonal imballance in humans. A reason why people are getting so fat and developing so young. A lot said and some people will say it's crazy but do the research yourself. | 9/12/2011 |

| ryan | nobody may really know why bees have been disappearing. each seems plausible, especially the point that made about the organic bees not being fumigated. global warming is not a corrected term, "climate change" is more correct. but whatever the real reason may be, this is a problem. | 4/13/2011 |

| The Watcher | The Bee Phenomenon will only continue for a few more years, "dont worry". It will at its most highest form of Bee population loss, suddenly then last Seven more years. After this, the population will rebound; and come back to normal levels for the most part. Science will then slowly discover these facte soon to be true in time. Remember, dont worry about something you can not control nor find reason in. These things were ment only to be noticed not understood. The earth now, and near the beginning of the year 1948, is currently in state of changing nothing more. Oh, and No; Mr. Einstein did not say those words.. | 3/26/2011 |

| Cindy | This summary was well thought out. Well done. I was starting to wonder about radiation too but the point that bees who are living an organic life are fine, rules it out (though it's still not a good thing). So it must be the GMOs and Chemicals that are the main culprits. (I'm sure temperature is a factor as well) I doubt that we can do anything about Global Warming, it's beyond Earth... We have nothing to do with the melting poles on Mars, or the turn around in the storm on Jupiter, etc. etc. throughout our solar system. So if temperature is the problem, then we'll find ourselves making indoor environment for our now preciously protected bees. Biodomes might even come into existence just for this factor alone. But if huge companies like Monsanto keep getting the support of corrupt governments worldwide, biodomes will become a necessity for farmers using whatever seeds they can culture or get that have not yet been pattented and protect them from crossbreeding with the patented ones to avoid lawsuits, crop seizures, etc. etc) So, we know our priority. We need to ban huge agra-farming and chemicals. We already know that we have to go green with everything we do. Legislations giving companies ridiculous amounts of time to clean up their acts is unacceptable. They don't have the right to mess this place up for the rest of us. This has to be done world wide and fast. Stopping alternative cars from being produced is another mess that has to be shifted and fast. The oil and chemical (incl. pharma) industries have had their hay day and have managed to control the fate of this planet, up until now. Shift is about to happen. :) I'm glad that the bees spoke up. No one was listening to humans :) But now that our existence is on the line, we're paying attention! Not only will this bring about a radical turn around to organic food production but it will also instill a respect for other life forms on this planet. "we only change at the precipice" and that's right about now. :) |

| dian | What if bees disappearance is due to burn out from non-stop human harvesting of honey, by not allowing adequate recovery period for bees to be healthy to continue production of their wonderful product...in other words, is the bee being exploited by humans by allowing continued harvesting instead of giving bees time to recover before returning to work...perhaps a recovery time period can be established to optimize bee health. All living things must rest to continue...or die. Humans tend to overdo and too late recognize the need to manage resources, and react to do so only when resource is near extinction. | 1/15/2011 |

| J. | The honey bees are going underground! I have been watching them. They are taking clover leaves into the hive and they are also sharing their dwelling with other types of bees. For the past couple years bees go in but they dont come out. Start looking under oldgrowth and old established buildings- they are under mine! I have never used pesticides on my ground or weed-n-feed type chemicals, maybe that makes this place desireable. I dont really want anyone trying to take my home and have only showed friends and family. The nest I think engulfs my entire house. | 7/27/2010 |
| the unknown man | This is scary..i think this should be a more open and public issue because alot of people dont even know about this i started reserching this because i didnt see them around anymore scientist should start some type of fundraiser to help with the research | 6/11/2010 |
| K.M. Francis | It seems to me that GMO foods effect on bees is the most likely culprit causing Colony Collapse Disorder. These foods could become the death of us all. Whether one believes in evolution or creationism, there is no doubt that the natural balance that exists is much more complicated than human beings can possibly understand, let alone recreate. | 5/22/2010 |
| M Britt. | Wow... Quite a lot of 'Theories'... mean people, global warming, world wars... /boggle. How about this one. Africanization of European honeybee colonies is causing a genetic corruption in the bees genetic memory. The introduction of the African 'killer' bee queens into European colonies causes the implantation of African genetic memory into European bees. The tendency for African bees to produce more honey and swarm more often is causing the partially Arficanized colonies to swarm more often, with fewer bees, and have a heavier attack response. The weakened swarms, with fewer bees carrying less honey are particularly vulnerable and are failing at a higher rate than more organized and numerous fully European, or more productive fully African swarms. I recently observed a smaller than normal size swarm in a tree. The swarm was disturbed by the approach of a nearby big rig truck. They displayed a highly aggressive response to being disturbed, and the air was filled with bees for a few minutes. After about 15 minutes the queen and swarm had moved on, however, due to the big aggressive display, some 30ish bees remained in the area and eventually returned to the branch where the queen had been. They all clustered on the spot with her lingering smell and sat there milling about the spot and doing dances. Noting the below normal size of the swarm, the aggressive behavior, and the loss of a portion of the swarm due to the aggressive display; I was interested enough to move in and observe the now calm lingering bees. On the order of about 50/50 the remaining bees displayed Africanized traits. Thedarker abdomens and smaller wings. They were notably NOT, however, fully Africanized. Based on this, I came to the following conclusion. Partial Africanization is inducing the genetic predisposition into European colonies to produce more Queens, swarm more often, with fewer bees, and taking less honey than their European counterparts. The tendency to engage in the swarming behavior under these circumstances results in a genetically inferior been half/half Euro/African with the aggressive tendencies of the African bees, but with the lower honey production / survival capabilities of the European bees. This genetic desire to swarm more often with fewer and less capable workers is causing a significant rate of failure in new swarms, and on the whole a lesser number of bees in existing colonies. Overall this tendency weakens the colonies, making them more susceptible to failure than has previously been seen in the more conservative fully European variety. |

| Jane | I saved a bee today that was on my garage floor struggling on his back. I gently nudged him onto a stick and placed him on one of my blooming trees. He seemed fine then, but I wonder if the little fellow was lost from his hive! I am very worried about bees disappearing! Having heard about bees disappearing, I thought I'd better try to save him! | 4/23/2010 |

| frankenfoods | Well the genetically altered food, such as the soy bean. which creates a growth hormone in the stomach that makes cows bigger. has strted a domino effect. The cows get bigger , man gets bigger. The soy bean creates a growth hormone in what ever eats. There is a mite in the flower of the soy bean that attacks the bees before it was not harmful to the bee. but with the growth hormone can we be sure that we have not made this mite or other microbes bigger stronger faster , and how can we see what the result would be to humanity. | 4/1/2010 |
| Mappy | People installing Satellite Dishes in Canada report that they have visual proof that the bees flock to Internet/Satellite Dishes due to the Frequency and by days end there are massive die-offs! Someone needs to look into this ASAP! No bees = No us! | 3/26/2010 |
| morris | i would like to add my advice or belief.why aren't scientist testing the air for unusual airborn viruses?this, i believe could be the problems with these honeybees disappearing.there are areas in parks and forests ,that have points of areas, that seem to have bad air space. i can tell when i visit public and national parks.when i enter in and rest in some areas.i find myself sick for months.i find my throat to be the sensitive area that is the most effected.only in some area i encounter this illness.i really believe there should be more focus in airborn diseases.there should be focuses on people who urinate on the grass and bushes, were people sit and lay on or next to these plants.PLEASE! inform the scientist to really focus on airborn viruses.i truely believe there will be a answer to this mystery..people need to know there are airborn viruses that are very contagious, and are spread by colds ,running noses and touching things.this has nothing to do with the common cold.i think it is something much stronger and much more contagious . these are some example of symtoms when you rub up or against and breath airborn viruses.symptoms are eye vision problems, running nose, loss of focus(in some cases memory loss altogether),mild throat ache, organs problems, muscle aches, appetite increases and you can easily transmitted this to other by hand touching ,or and sneezing on someone. |

| Nick A | The reason why the disappearing of the bees: In my opinion the bees are not dying, but are losing their coordination, they can't find their way back to their hives because to the shifting of the magnetic field of the earth. It is my thought that because of their need of the earth’s magnetic field to globally position themselves, a shift in it would seriously affect them. |

| SethCleary | I think that bees have an extra ability that we don't pertain as humans. Kind of like a 6th sense that can detect the extra ordinary but in real life. Bees are such a big part of lives that we need trust our instincts. | 6/29/2009 |
| Denise Bennett | Thoughts about bees: I live in Southern California and see bees on the ground every day. I bend down to pick them up. The bees that are still alive are clearly disoriented and some have curled legs. Oftentimes they are hyper, walking around in circles. Sometimes they just sit there and don't move at all... like they are paralyzed or in shock. I try to calm the hyper ones and revive the others. I envision light surrounding them and try to clear their heads. A few times, they've recovered and fly off. Most of the time, though their wings are fine, they don't fly ever again. A few weeks ago, I smelled a pungent odor for a block where I believe the city contracted to have some kind of spraying done. I called and was transferred to voicemail. (No one ever called back.) I thought I’d have better luck with a large local publication but nothing came of it. It's hard to be optimistic about all this. I buy organic but that doesn't fix the pesticide problem. I'm ready to give up my cell phone but how will that help to bring down the towers? I have so much love for creatures and now the bees are a part of my family. I pet them and hold them as they die, like they are my sisters and brothers. I take them to the flowers and see if they want a last drink. Sometimes they do and it brings tears to my eyes. Thank you for letting me express my pain here... I hope someone cares. The following is a reading (communication) with the bees: Angels, can I speak to the bees? ...Of course. You may speak to any entity you wish. Okay. I am so moved by your plight. I just want you to know I'm sorry for the hurt my species has caused you. Is there anything more I can do for you? ...We want to tell you, your Loving acts are felt by all members, in every hive across the land. We speak to each other telepathically. Some are angry with what's happening. Many are frustrated and don't know what to do. We communicate daily to keep up morale. There are some humans that care about us like you do and we are grateful for your kind. We would appreciate greater numbers of you, spreading the word. We are a community, a family just as you are... and we are being torn apart. What are you affected by most? ...Chemicals in our food, air, and water. They are powerfully damaging. What about the electromagnetic fields? ...They cause confusion; navigation is highly obstructed. What about genetically altered foods? ...Unnatural plants cause instability and deformity. So the breakdown of the body and mind is due to chemicals and unnatural plants and structures? ...Yes. Angels, can we reverse this trend? ...If enough of you focus your intention on correcting it, then, yes. You must join together to create sufficient power and momentum. Otherwise, the decline will continue and bees will disappear from your planet... all except a handful, displayed in a glass box for show. This saddens me so. ...Yes, humans can be quite destructive. But when you are ready, you will move mountains together in the name of Love. I look forward to that day. ...Yes, we do also. Thank you, Angels. |

| tilly | i am a surfer and i always see bees when i'm in the water. i actually come across more bees in the water than on land. they fly by as i sit out there, they land on the water surface, i see them washed up along the shore line, in hawaii, in new york, in france. i understand that one of the mysteries of this disaster is that the bee's simply disappear. i think they all end up in the ocean. maybe abandoning the hives has something to do with water. is water quality faltering? are the bees loosing their bearings? are they attracted to the salt? are there any ideas on this thought? i would love to hear a scientist's view. | 11/16/2008 |

| Ben Dover | Bees are disappearing into the sky. They do it every 1,000 years. I don't know why. | 8/27/2008 |
| Dr. Jones | I f the bees are truly disappearing they might not be dead but saving themselves most animals can sense when changes in the environment are happening and try to escape their demise. It may be that they can sense certain minor changes in the environment that we cannot we would all like to think that we are the most advanced being on the planet but other species are far more likely to survive especially bugs. We have no idea what this age of mankind has done to our habitat or other species entirely we can guess all we want but the truth is mankind well not live forever our planet won't even live forever. I'm not the type of person who believes in religion but alot of the predictions of the end of time from several religions around the world and in the past have come true so far. we need to stop fight amongst are selves and look at the big picture not propaganda or war but what we are here for we are the only known speciees on this planet that has the cognitive ability to completely change our environment perhaps we have changed it to much cut to many trees introduced too many non native species to parts of the world in hopes to make our lives easier for us. I was always taught that the easy solution is not always the best solution. Who truly knows what is to become of our race or how history remembers us everything you hear believe and fight for may all be false if we all plead ignorance. written history is most likely not the actual history it is a story written by the winning side or the interpretation of something the writer did not fully comprehend science is fact to a point and that point is what do we really comprehend what can we truly see and understand after all we are one of the youngest species on earth and god may be just events that were so unimaginable that the writer thought nothing like that can happen unless god did it. maybe they realized they are not the most important and had a humbling realization of a bigger picture that caused them so much fear and suffering that their must be more beyond our existence. everything has two sides to it or more we as humans more times than not take the easy way and follow blindly no matter what our heart may ? it is the circle of life we see but also ignore on species wiped out can disrupt and destroy an entire ecosystem but their well always be war with us and we well eventually destroy ourselves wether it be by war with each other or unknowingly and ignorantly destroy our entire ecosystem | 7/31/2008 |

| Kyle | The mobile phone link is a Luddite fantasy. Do a little research. They didn't use a cell phone, they put home portable phone base stations in hives. The results were the opposite of what was reported: just as many hives without a phone base station collapsed as with one. | 7/1/2008 |
