Amol Thanks Joshan for your insights. Yes, the disadvantages I have mentioned are certainly getting reduced with every coming day. The basic idea was to tell about generic disadvantages that still persist in the industries. But yes, with the advent of technology and growing competition, these disadvantages would soon be a curtailed if not vanished all together. 11/10/2007

I liked the classification of E-Commerce bit!
Regarding disadvantages,
Firstly the delivery timeline - To counter this portals like storrz offer 24 hrs delivery throughout India and within a short period it will be even better! No doubt other portals would soon follow suit!
Next regarding shipping of perishables! Well, these online portals spend a hell lot in ads et al... I think they should be in a position to tie up with stores in various cities to deliver perishables!
Another disadvantage safety! With this in mind storrz has introduced payment options like Credit/Debit card swiping on delivery, pay using Sodex-Ho which are both first of its kind in India! So customers need not worry about either the condition of their products or about credit identity theft!
With the introduction of these features the disadvantages have been reduced to a large extent!
