| Stephanie | Great information, but don't forget to include that they chew everything and anything, and a lot of the cages found out there now come with plastic ramps, shelves and bowls, a big no no unless you want a large vet bill because your little critter has ingested these plastics. I got a large board and cut it in 4 the width of my cage and screwed screws in it. Also watch the linings of the cage, cedar shavings are highly toxic as are redwood, eucalyptus, and some other hardwoods. Untreated white pine is the safest bet. Also most chins love to play and it's very good for their development. Lastly, back to the chewing thing, they do this because their teeth are continuously growing and they need to gnaw them down, you can buy wooden huts, stone disks, and other devices to help them with the process, I myself give my chins natural rawhide dog bones. | 4/4/2009 |
