| Unknown | I'm sorry, but the Long Sword and HAH (Hand-and-a-half) swords were two different things. Long sword was anything longer than a Short sword, and was a One handed sword. The HAH sword CAN be classified as a Long Sword, but, not the other way around. And, In those times, there really wasn't much steel to be had, except for rare occasions, because of the heat and proscess to create steel was too much for most Blacksmiths. But, your armor is mostly correct, so, good job there. Though, chain Mail also had the coilf (colf?) which is used on the head. Scale-Mail is also another type, however, if you want to learn about that. | 8/27/2010 |

| Malleolus | The separation of plates in lorica segmantia was not as good as full plates. The leather bindings used to make the segments articulated were prone to wear and tear, the suits themselves were rather complicated, and it only covered the torso. As far as protection for the rest of the body, plate armor wasn't much different. Full plates are not as complicated, you have metal to metal articulation if it is made properly, and you don't have to worry about a decent fighter running their sword up under a segment of armor and stabbing you, which was the common wound for lorica segmantia armor wearers. | 2/24/2009 |
