Second Hand Smoke, A New Perspective

Today's politicians are out to persecute people that have trouble giving up smoking. They are using a ridiculous argument, supported by statistically unsound data, that second hand smoke is so dangerous that we can be harmed with very little exposure.

Keith I was just recently exposed to some ciggarette smoke and perhaps light marijuana smoke..this is the first time..i hold my breath a lot and tried to breath out of the window..i feel really depressed today and feel like my lungs are burning..i am a HUGE workout freak..i run and lift daily..i worried my stamina and breathing has been affected..am i ok? 2/10/2008
Bill You take 3 examples of casual smokers that lived beyond 70 and thats logic as to why smoking can create a strong immune system? There is probablly a man or woman out there that could drink diluted draino for 40 years and live to be 105, it doesnt mean 99.999999% of the population wouldn't die in 2 years.... 12/12/2007
Elmer Second hand smoke has more CO (when smoldering) is unfiltered and can become quite concentrated. I believe long term heavy exposure is dangerous. Short term may not be deadly but it is toxic and irritating. Outdoors not so bad, a simple nuisance. 11/12/2007
Maria You are using case-studies i.e. Jeanne Calmant to formulate your arguments. Try using population based researches as well as animal experiments which show that environmental tobacco smoke contributes the compromising the immune system espcially in neonates.
