Tamara I was diagnosed a diabetic in November 2007 and my belly started getting bloated, plus I stay constipated now. I use to be able to go regular until I became a diabetic, can you give me some advice of what I may need to do. I changed my diet but I feel that something I eat may be caused this. 11/1/2010
Anonymous The article is informative, but the picture at the top is completely unnecessary. Do we really need a picture of a woman in a lace thong in order to understand constipation? 5/6/2010

Jo Hardly discusses which foods cause constipation. There's an extensive list including otherwise healthy counter-intuitive items like bananas, cooked carrots, apple sauce, casein protein from dairy, dry fiber foods & supplements w/o enough liquid (psyllium etc), animal protein (flesh), calcium & iron supplements, peeled white potatoes, chocolate, tea, & many more.
What might help: flax seeds, chia seeds, fruits & vegs, drink more water
(high doses of magnesium or vit C may get things moving)

john I did a search on foods to help excrete and after a while it reminded me the dangers of the internet. But here is what I am sure the creators of the information hiway had in mind. Accurate, timely and well thought out advice and direction. Thank you. 8/16/2009
Tess Stamell I have had chronic constipation all my life. Even as a child when fresh vegetables and fruit were a must in our family, I had a bowel problem. Doctors would say eat more fibre and use these laxatives. One had me using bran as fibre ... the result ... it virtually turned to cement. Constipation has never been treated as a serious problem by doctors. Fibre is better understood when there is a list including individual named foods. What nobody explained was how vitaI FLUIDS were and the quantity required! I now endeavour to consume a mininum of ten glasses of liquid each day. Nevertheless sadly my system is as such that I will always be plague by constipation. I have encountered inflammed retcum and impacted bowel. It is horrid and frightening exdperience. I need to be very stringent with my eating habits, fluid intake and to take full control of my situation. Thank you for supplying information that will be of use to me. 4/1/2009
