Hello, I've decided to go around the sites I can post comments on and post all my problems with my hue and how I fixed them. (I will be posting links to programs that are safe and free)
Problem 1, Custom ringtones It's really easy to do really! Alltel has a free service. (Note: MP3 and MIDI file formats are the only ones I've tested. IF YOU NEED TO CONVERT goto the Video part) What you need: Pic-msging
1. Get an account, google: axcessmypics 2. Get an MP3 or MID you want as a ringtone 3. Browse to your albums on axcessmypics 4. Make a new album using the New Album button 5. View the album (click on it) 6. Click the "New Entry" button (provide a caption!) 7. Upload your file (standard HTTP upload...) 8. Go to the album that you just added it to 9. Click the "Options" and then click the cellphone with the green arrow (first option) 10. Click "Add to Message" (neither Add Text or Duration should be changed, Add Text breaks the music and Duration has no effect for me) 11. Fill out the subject and Send To field
Problems I've encountered using axcessmypics (I have e-mailed alltel about these problems)
1. Cannot view MP3 album I created, (this will happen between steps 1, 2, and 3) basically when I login I see my profile from a visitor's perspective. I have to login twice... Once on the main axcessmypics page, and then I see my profile but I'm not logged in. I then click the "Login" button on the blue background and I login again and then I see all my old albums.
2. I receive the text, but the sound does not play. You either forgot to click "Add to Message" which it should warn you about - OR - You added "Add Text" Alltel e-mailed me back telling me that if you fill the "Add Text" field out when you are "Send a Picture Message to a Wireless Phone" that it won't work. Hopefully they will fix this soon.
Problem 2, How do I play music on my phone!? You will need a mini-sd card, and an adapter for your computer.
I personally have a mini-sd to SD adapter, and then an SD to USB adapter. (most new laptops and certain Desktop PC's have SD readers) You can get these items at walmart or radio shack.
Once you have a mini-sd card, you stick it in your alltel hue and format it. Menu-Settings-Memory Info-Card Memory-Format Card (code: menu-8635)
Then load the card up on your PC and start moving music to the My_Music folder. It only supports .mp3 that I know of.
Note: You can access the music player quickly by hitting left on the circular rocker thing around the menu button.
Problem 3, Your songs have weird names like ypB or yqC This is because your songs ID3 tag is incorrectly formatted.
To solve this, open the song in an MP3 ID3 tag editor. I personally use "MP3 ID3 V1 V2 tag edit and sort" google: beginwithsoftware mp3-id3-v1-v2-tag-edit-sort
(it's free, very fast, and portable, I use it on my usb flashdrive)
Note: DO NOT CLICK "Clear ID3 Tag Data" that will mess you up... Check the update tag thingies and then hit the update button. That will apply all your changes to the music files themselves.
Problem 4, How do I get video on there? I'm not sure what video formats the phone can play. I use S.U.P.E.R. to convert my video's to 3G2 (what the phone records as)
google: erightsoft SUPER
It's quite a complicated program but can convert mostly any video format to another. (it supports audio only formats as well) Best of all it's free! I spend 5-10 minutes just looking for the download link!
Note: resolution should be no larger than 176x144 (super can convert the resolution if you select it)
I put rick rolled on my phone!
Problem 5, Bluetooth
Goto Menu-Tools-Bluetooth-Bluetooth Settings-Enable/Disable (code: menu-7231)
Once you enable bluetooth, then you can go down one and put it in "Discovery Mode"
Quick understanding, "Discovery Mode" basically causes your bluetooth in your phone to start accepting new connections. This means people can only connect to your phone for the short time it's in this mode.
When you want to add a new device, it will search for the device then ask you if you want to connect to it. It will then ask for a code. This code is a pairing code. On the other persons phone it will appear, and they will have to tell you. On a device like a speakerphone the code will be in the manual or simply be 0000 (I walked into the alltel store one day, paired to a speakerphone using 0000 and started playing Nightwish, Muse, Linkin Park, Muse, and Chop Suey... Of course I didn't turn the volume up all the way...)
Anyway! that's pretty much all the features of my phone that I had to figure out myself the rest I found online or in my manual!
I’ve never done a donate before… but if you found this useful go ahead! (links aren't allowed, google tinyurl) my tinyurl for the paypal link is cfv5mn |

I have had my hue for a little over 6months, and i LOVE it! The only reason I have thought about another phone is because I fell in love with txting and I want a phone with the full keyboard on it. that would be my only compliant on phone. other then sometimes the LCD screen doesnt always work. other than that I love this phone! |

I bought this phone as my first, and I absolutely love it. I have had it since they came out, I have the faceplates and I love this phone. Easy to work and I compare it to a more durable RAZR and a cheap RAZR. It is slim and pretty. My only flaunt with it is that the screen is sideways. To be honest, I dont like that. But besides that, I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS PHONE! My battery lasts about 3 days. Mine has a really good battery because I know a secret. |
