"Hyracotherium," was one of the first horses that lived about 50 million years ago. It was as tall as a fox and had toes. This horse went through a transformation over millions of years to become the modern horse.

Malory I think that everything here is good info, so what if a few facts and 99.9% right and not 100% I love all equine animals, donkeys, horses and ponies! I dont care for small detail, I love a horse as long as its a horse. As long as horses are around im happy! I love horses and always will all my life. I can live without percise facts like whether its 1cm taller or 1 cm lower or if theres one mistake about the markings on a horses face. I love them whether its a star, stripe or blaze covering their face! I love horses and couldn't imagine life without them! I LOVE horses and Hi to everyone out there who loves em too! 9/8/2008

Ryan 'a fully grown small horse' is not a pony.
a pony is a specific 'type' - they are proportionally different to a horse, eg. larger heads, smaller, thicker legs, etc. some Arabian horses are smaller than ponies, but they are not ponies because proportionally and tempramentally (ponies are less fiesty than horses) they are horses, not ponies. I love horses. I hate horse slaughter too! I can't believe that they make them into dog food and make their hooves into glue, just to be pasted onto a piece of paper, its disgusting! They deserve so much more, to have a loving owner and to be admired, not to be killed. There alive too, they have feeling I dont know how anyone can kill such a majestic animal! Sirina Hay, love the interesting facts about the horses. Especially what the oldest and shortest horses were! Unbelieveable that a pony was really only 14 inches! Brie you are missing ALOT of really important horse facts on this article, i mean really! i know you TRY to cover alot of other animals, i guess, but you should really try harder on the horse part of it don't you think, you forgot to say that there is a star,a strip, a blaze and a snip, and you DO NOT call A white mark, which covers one or both of the lips and proceeds up to the nostrils, a White muzzle! it is called a blaze! and further more, a fully grown small horse, is a pony, but people don t just say,"i think that horse is small enogh to be a pony! NO! they messure the horse in hands! a pony is only a pony if it is UNDER 14.2 hands! if it is 14.3 hands or more, THEY CALL IT A HORSE! and it is not just there facial expresions, that i will admit do help, tell how your horse is feeling, it is also there tail, legs and neck that tell feelings for a horse too! and by the way, cream, is NOT A COAT COLOR! is is called BAY! and you did not even talk about other colors, like skewbald, piebald, straberry roan, blueroan, cheast nut, dun, should i go on? i think you should get WAY more ACCURATE info about horses, because the stuff you TRY to tell here, is NO help to ANYONE! oh, i should also mention that YOU COMPLEATLY FORGOT LEG MARKINGS! i mean they are important to! there is a cornet, which is just above the hoof, a pastern,which is just under the fettlock, a sock, which is just above the fettlock and a stocking, under the knee. also, the catergory says horses and health care, i see NO health information! i mean you COMPLEATLY overlooked grooming for one thing, i mean you should have mentioned all the names, curry comb, boady brush, a comb for mane and tail, hoof pick ect. and you should have also explained there uses! you also forgot to explain the shoeing process i really think you need to have another look at this article and FIX IT! 7/17/2008
