My grandmother was just put on a renal diet in addition to 14-carb, 200 mg sodium, 64 oz fluid - diet. So I was kind of up in arms about what to give her. It seemed like she couldn't have anything from what the dietician said at the hospital. But looking at this list, a lot of her favorite foods are low in potassium so I'm happy that she FINALLY has a good variety of foods to choose from! Thank you so much! WE appreciate it! |

My Dr. Has just told me my potassium is high ( mildly). I would like to keep my potassium level under 2000. Is there a meal plan which includes just the right amount of potassium servings for a complete meal? Also, I am a class 2 diabetic. Thank you for any help you can give me. |

My husband has just been found to have slightly elevated potassium level. He is a diabetic & has already had a heart attack (no damage). Seems the foods we have thought were good for us are now a danger to him. Thank you for the information. I think we will seek the support of a dietitian. |

I have CKD II, high K, no symptoms but need to watch my diet. Thank you for the info you have provided. It is helpful, but your list has many exclusions, such as meats, cereals (oatmeal, cream of wheat, cheese (which ones are okay, if any?) etc. |

There's tons of info out there. Try going to the national kidney foundation, Davita, or any other kidney site. Many also have recipes there. My husband is in end stage renal failure and I know you can search for kidney freindly recipes or renal dialysis recipes and info. Most people with kidney disfunction are on a low potassium and low phosphorous diet so these web sites should help you. |

Those who have high potassium levels should seek advice from a registered dietitian, the nutrition expert. Find an RD on the website of the American Dietetic Association. |
