Annasui Amazing article with a lot of useful information, actually, recently I've found another way to speed up my poor PC, the software "tuneup360". It’s very easy to handle and of course very powerful, my friends and I all use it now, maybe you can have a try 11/30/2010

Larry Miller System restore has virtually no impact on performance. It most certainly does not cause continuous disk activity. Creating a restore point takes only a few seconds and this is normally done during idle time. A restore point is done by default once a day and for most software installs.

By default System Restore uses 12% of disk space but this can be considerably reduced if this is a consideration.

System Restore can be invaluable in restoring operation after a serious problem. It can mean the difference between a quick fix and hours of difficult troubleshooting - or an expensive bill for professional services. Do not lightly disable this valuable feature. At the very least do a search at microsoft to find out how the feature really works. The author has seriously misrepresented it.
