Daisy While illegal immigration continues to be a "hot issue" in the United States, other countries around the world are also being affected. They may enter a country illegally or they may initially enter legally but violate their terms of stay. Examples include an individual who overstayed on their visa or violated the terms of their permanent residency or refugee permit. They are certain terms that are used to refer to these individuals. 4/1/2008

Lou I believe illegal immigration is a growing concern. However, I feel that we are not focusing on the external problem of the matter. There are many US (native and foreign investors) manufacturing industries in third-world countries paying their employees meager wages due to competition. They should get paid better (not ten cents an hour or 4 dollars a day) with some benefits. If they are paid better by these industries, perhaps they wouldn't have a need to come to the US.

If American investors have manufacturing industries overseas, the US should enforce an international law to provide adequate wages for their workers. The US in turn would reward these industries with a tax break for following the guidelines. We, the consumers, would probably have to pay more, but it would be worth it.

The border would be safer keeping out the killers, rapist and drug smugglers.
