Ladyboys of Phuket
Ladyboys or ‘katoeys’ are a common stereotype of Thailand. But are there really lots of ladyboys in Thailand and if so, why?

Do you know why there are so many ladyboys in thailand!? It doesnt have nothing with its genetics! capitalizm is in its extreme in Thailand, its the only capitalistic country in the region that doesnt have a social problem resolved! its a country that is corrupted, the non rich are fighting for survivor, and becoming a ladyboy is a easy way for making money for the macros, also young boys are forced from the villages to become a ladyboy and work for the mafia! and it doesnt have nothing to do with tolarence, budism and other crap! |

Just a short note, In viewing the Katoey scene that as a former anthropology student that the sexual dimorphism between Thai males and females is not as great as with other populations. Indeed there are many Thai females that have a "Katoey" look. Given that sexual identification is a developmental factor and probably does have genetic influence, I think there would have to be a scientific study on the obviously large amount of Thai population males that pursue the feminine life style. Are Thais more tolerant BECAUSE it is such a widespread phenomenae or is Thai tolerance a contributing factor? There are also many men like this in the phillippines where sexual dimorphism between males and females is almost equally a factor that allows phillipino and thai transgender males the ability to become very convincing based on secondary sexual characteristics. I believe until I am shown scientific evidence otherwise, that , politically correct or not.. there indeed may be some enviromental or genetic factor in these populations that brings about this. The recognition that this may be a factor may be resisted by some who assume that pointing this out is to identify a "fault" or "defect". If you have the knee jerk reaction to rule out population genetics as a possible factor without a scientific and unbiased study being made then one should re examine their assumptions about "feminine males" and their own tolerance and acceptance of this basic and fundamental fact of life in our species and in many others. Having said that, I agree that the tolerance is a positive thing in terms of basic human rights. On the other hand Thai "ladyboys" as well as some other SE Asian ladyboys can look extreemly cute! And are often discoverable simply by the fact that they are more attractive than XX (or real) women! |
