norain id also like to add trees will grow where the glaciers disapear .cypris tree stumps are found melting out of the ice in the artic. and you can sit a ice cube on the table observe the way it melts and how the melting increases as it gets smaller .much like in nature. please dont let the al gores of the world fool you into thinking you can stop it by sending him money or paying carbon taxxes. they are supose to melt its normal. 1/27/2012
norain glaciers are melting faster and its normal .preasure causes ice to melt below freezing. a small amount of melt is from the top.most melt is from the bottom ,any running water causes friction melting even more.we are coming to the end of another ice age . its all normal for this to happen and has happened many times before. 1/27/2012

Just watched a CNN news item where areas in Peru made void of ice and snow and near diminishing glaciers are being whitewashed ever so slowly by throwing pails full of a mixture of lime (whitwash) onto dark rocks. The idea is to deflect heat from the sun, thus lowering temperatures by 12 to 30 degrees, thus saving the glaciers and creating fresh new rivulets of precious water. The small whitewashed area so far has proved successful, but current hand-bucket whitewashing of darker rock is just too slow considering the thousands of acres to be whitewashed to reverse the diminishing snow/ice areas.

I was thinking, why not use airplanes to "spray" the life-saving whitewash? Why not use water-bombing airplanes en masse to achieve the required results much more efficiently than years of hand-bucket efforts? This could be a brilliant solution to global warming, as the idea could be applied to global strategic areas being depleted of historical sources of fresh water.

Lex Johnston Our days our limited. They need to invent something that can turn sea water into clean drinking water, if not alot of people will be affected and eventully die. MiniHopa I always wonder why scientists never mention how much heat the HHARP Arrays are generating. While I realize many factors are at work here, since the inception of these global "testing facilities" the earth has heated exponentially. Yet no one is saying a word. Greg Lintinger I believe that the global warming theory is totally wrong. We are looking in the wrong direction. We need to look down into the earth.
I believe the reason for the glaciers melting is due to the movement of the techtonic plates of the earth and the motion of the earth's magma which is changing the heating of the earth in areas that were previously cooler. The mass of the earth and the heat capacity of the earth compaired to the air and the atmospheres capacity to hold heat are not even comparable. The earth's heat is the reason the glaciers are melting. Not the atmosphere. Thermodynamics.		 2/21/2010

someone Glaciers are melting faster today as compared to the past many centuries. Why this sudden change? Almost everyone believe that the prime reason for this is sudden and rapid industrialization which in turn has caused global warming - the prime culprit of fast melting glaciers.

Global warming is the rise in average global temperature that has happened over the past century. The 'industrial revolution' is the main cause of this rise in average temperature. The indiscriminate burning of fossil fuels have resulted in extreme atmospheric pollution leading to this condition. Coal is still burnt in huge quantities for various reasons such as electricity production. Burning of oil is a major culprit in the past century. Deforestation has increased to procure wood and make more space available for farming, resulting in an increase in carbon dioxide concentrations. All these pollutants help in trapping more heat in the earth's atmosphere, increasing global temperatures.

It is due to this increase in temperature that glaciers are melting more than they actually should. When a glacier melts fully, it exposes the earth below. Glaciers absorb approximately 20% heat from the sun, reflecting back 80%. When the earth gets exposed this percentage gets reversed. This in turn causes a further increase in temperature. This is a vicious trap which has already begun and it will be almost impossible for us to stop it totally.

In the future the global temperature will in all likelihood keep increasing, melting glaciers even faster than they are today.		 1/14/2009
