Many thanks to both of you!
Tim: This does have many weaknesses from a structure standpoint. You're spot on with that. It was a first attempt at getting back on the horse after quite a few years away. I still like the sentiment of the idea but there's alot of work to be done on this if I take it to the toolshed at some point. But I'm immensely pleased you enjoyed it.
Uh Maised: First.. LOVE the name! Secondly of course many, many thanks for the praise! You've got me blushing actually! :) I don't really know how this was published on Buzzle. A friend told me it was up on this page today. I originally published it on another site; maybe they changed their name to buzzle.
I do have a larger body of work; shorts and flash fiction mostly at a blog called Blogging for Apples. I guess buzzle doesn't allow any link stuff but if you google blogging for apples mark mika you should be able to find it.
You're both more than welcome to go there, comment or post some of your own stuff if you like.
Thanks both of you for taking the time to read and comment. It made my morning brighter!
best,

This piece is quite desciptive and passionate. i appreciate the tone but i have to say i would desire a little more symmetry between the start and finish. But its great how you leave the emotion of the story to be interperated by the reader in te end. Morbid or Inspirational. Beauty |

You know what Mark Mika, out of all the ridiculously horrible things I read on this website just to make fun of how lame people really are at work when I'm bored......I really enjoyed this. It's really a great short story....forgive me for not being more fluent, but I am really astonished right now.....this is beautiful. I see you posted it quite some time ago....I hope you do still visit this site or have reminders available so you can view my comment. Being as obviously talented as you are I'm not sure if it will affect you or not, but you're a great writer. Everything about this piece of literature flows, it's quite refreshing, based on the subject matter and the actual writing itself.
I have only one criticism......the multiple use of the word truculence....well that and truculently. That's personal of course. I just don't like great words like that repeated in a work so short......instead of truculently, why not defiantly aggressive? That's just the pure definition of the word of course, that's what I always use when I want to reuse a word in order to force myself not to.
But back to the 'praisings' of this post. I love it, please don't ever stop writing.....or posting, I found out today, after reading this, it's nice to read something great for a change. |
