Do the elderly with normal cholesterol but having a stroke and heart attack NEED a statin? My mom has been on lipitor and had a massive ischemic stroke. |

JUST SAY "NO" TO STATIN DRUGS! I know first hand since I lost my Father this year (2007). His idiot primary care physician put him on Lovastatin & 40 mg. to boot. He had congestive heart failure stage 1. He was healthy & active otherwise with no physical limitation. He was 71. Once he started taking lovastatin, he started retaining fluids, shortness of breath, weak, no energy. Then finally he told me he had blood in his urine. He was in & out of the hospital with kidney failure & a blood clot in his heart & was now diabetic. These statin drugs are nothing more than a HUGE $$$$ maker for the drug companies and yes doctors. Don't let them fool you they get spiffs from the drug companies! My Father was actually diagnosed with congestive heart failure in 1998 & was given a 50% chance of living the following year. Luckily I happened to read about coenzyme Q10. Which I found out that people with CHF have low levels of Coenzyme Q10. Thank god I did my research then otherwise I would have lost him 9 years ago. It has been proven that statins reduce CoQ10 levels in the tissues, thus increasing risk for heart disease. Taking any of the statin drugs that are on the market they not only inhibit the production of Cholesterol but also it inhibits the production of Coenzyme Q10 & depletes it. Which is an essential nutrient that every cell in your body must have to produce energy. But doctors don't tell you about this risk nor do they acknowledge Coenzyme Q10. Mostly because they can't make money off of it. In Japan cardiologists actually prescribe it to their heart patients. I have done alot of research on statin drugs since my Father's passing. I am not in the medical field but I really just want to inform anyone I can about these drugs because I don't want this same thing to happen to you, your Mother, Father, anyone you love & care about. I believe we will have an epidemic of people with heart failure, heart disease & death from strokes, heart attacks. It''s a billion dollar a year business for these drug companies! I have another very dear friend that was taking Lipitor for 3 years. She is now 51. She had no history of heart disease. The doctor told her that her cholesterol was too high so she started taking Lipitor. They took her off of it because she was experiencing side effects. Well she developed heart disease so the doctor performed surgery to put in a stent in her artery of her heart. He accidently loosened some plaque & she had a stroke & heart attack. Now she has developed cirrosis of the liver because of taking Lipitor because it works in the liver. She's not a drinker. They told her she can't get a liver transplant because she has heart disease. The other day she told me now she is a diabetic and has early stage kidney failure. I could go on with more stories from friends & clients. Everyone knows someone taking a statin drug. Please don't let anyone you love & care about take these drugs. They do more harm than good. I would rather take my chances. |
