Nikki sorry, but teenagers and kids do these things no matter what kind of parenting strategies their parents choose to use. Permissive parenting is better, as it allows the child to consult with their parents about their choices and decisions, and not have to ask to do them as if their parents own them, which lessens the number of fights. Also, it lets the child be honest with their parents, rather than going behind their backs. All in all, i say permissive parenting is the technique that will be used in the future, as it has the best results. 5/13/2009

ctorre5 I beg to differ on your article. I am a 23 year-old college student doing a reseach paper on permissve parenting. And I grew up with a permissive parent. As a child, I never got in any trouble, no matter what I did. As an adult I am very responsible and have self control. The point that you stated above "These are young adults who think that they do not have to work hard to get to where they want to go'' definitely does not apply to me. Infact that statement applies to alot of my friends that I know. Most of them grew up in households with authoritarian parents or with parents that always subjected their children to some type of rules and standards within the home. And as adults they think that they do not have to work for what they want, try to get by with little or no effort, and they always get mad at the world when they don't get their way. 2/25/2008
