Brian I started experiencing some pretty significant vertigo for several days, several days after stopping taking glucosamine. Withdrawal symptom from discontinuing glucosamine is the only thing I could guess might have caused it. First time in my life I've ever had vertigo. It wasn't fun. 10/28/2010

Justina Atkins I have used Glucosamine and Chondroition several times in the past two years. At this time I am again taking two tablets per day and the chrushing pain in my right shoulder has become less severe. although morning stiffness is still a problem it subsides gradually .

Michael Bender If any of you experience diarrhea, try taking a dose of immodium. Start with one every other day to see if that is adequate and to avoid becoming constipated. That has helped my wife who now has MS. It has proven 100% effective in her case so it should help you as well.

Going the other way to constipation, I can recommend a daily bowl of Total Raisin bran. That has helped me stay regular. If I get even a little bit constipated I get a backache so I am certain that was beginning to be a problem for me as I got a warning backache. There are tablets and solutions you can get at most any drug store if you have a case of constipation and do not like the Total. But fiber in its natural form is always best. Plus it is loaded with vitamins.		 8/1/2010
Michael Bender It has helped me greatly. Three months ago, my knee hurt so badly, I had to use a cane to walk. Now, I have some discomfort but can walk without the cane. That is a big improvement. I still have a lot of tightness and pain when I first rise from sitting but as I walk it improves. I am learning it helps to move my knee joints even while sitting. 8/1/2010

stan I have Barret s esophagus and can not take aspirin. Does all or some glucosamine chondroiton contain aspirin? I have joint pain in the knee and have 2 torn rotator cuffs. 4/3/2010

Dr.Gunasakaran In Diabetic patients the insulin levels normally will fluctuates when you take glucosamine. Human body will not able to convert glucosamine into glucose. However, many physiological and pharmacological factors will alter the blood glucose levels in diabetic patients who are on glucosamine.

It has been hypothesized that glucosamine affects the hexosamine biosynthesis pathway in the regulation of glucose transport. As a result, the overexpression of enzymes involved in this pathway has led to high levels of glucose and insulin resistance in diabetic patients. A Cochrane systematic review of 20 randomized controlled trials which included 2570 patients evaluated the effectiveness and tolerability of glucosamine in osteoarthritis found that glucosamine was similar to placebo in case of occurrence of adverse events. But the authors did not comment specifically on diabetic patients or hyperglycemia per se.

Another study conducted by Researchers from Wilford Hall Medical Center at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas, studied the effects of Glucosamine on glucose levels. The clinical study reported that taking glucosamine supplements in humans does not notably affect glucose levels in patients with type 2 diabetes.

However, it is always advisable to get the physicians opinion before starting glucosamine therapy if you are diabetic and it is necessary to monitor your blood glucose regularly to look for fluctuations.

NEITHER ARE DIABETIC BUT BOTH HAVE RECENTLY STARTED TAKING GLUCOSAMINE. THEY WERE CONCERNED SO I CALLED THE PHARMACY AND ASKED WAS IT ELEVATED DUE TO THE GLUCOSAMINE, SHE SAID NO. WELL MY MOTHER WHO IS A DIABETIC HAD TO QUIT BECAUSE IT MADE HER LEVEL SO HIGH. SO WHAT IS THE ANSWER-WILL IT INCREASE YOUR BS LEVELS OR NOT? 2/11/2009
Nancy I have just started glucosamine chondroitin for one week . I have been dignosed as having Phlebitis which sends a needle jerk pain through my knees. Very painful and leaves my knees sore to the touch for about a week. Right now I really can not tell if Glucosamine is helping because I have more pain in the spring and fall during rainy season. Sandra I started taking Glucosamine and Chondroitin supplements two weeks ago and felt the affects in the joints immediately but within 10 days I had developed gastric problems (which I had never had before in my life) nausea and headaches. I stopped taking the tablets and the gastic problems and nausea went away after about three days but the headaches continued for 1 week. I am sure that all three of these symptoms point to an alergic reaction to the tablets because I never normally get headaches either. 9/4/2008
Gail I took glucosamine and chondroitin for 2 days. 2 tablets a day, one in the morning and one in the evening. I stopped taking the supplement on the third day due to vertigo. I have continued experiencing vertigo as a side effect and it is 5 days after stopping the supplement. I have been taking Benadryl for the vertigo. I had never experienced vertigo until I took the glucosamine and chondroitin supplement. 4/30/2008

Virginia I can't praise Glucosamine enough. My hands and knees were starting to get arthritic (expecially the hands) and I was in a great deal of pain. I started to take Glucosamine and within 2 weeks I noticed a considerable difference. I am just about pain free now and I would not be without it!.. My niece is giving it to her arthritic German Shepard and the change in her is remarkable! The poor thing cried whenever it got up and down. She is still stiff but a lot more limber than she was and she does not appear to be in pain any longer. Great product! 7/22/2007
