chinedum it nice to see how hobbies we pick tend to shapen our life. If one picks a hobby or interest that is constructive, he or she then becomes a vessel of productivity. 6/17/2011

Frog Your lists seems quite sexist or at the very least stereotypical, how is jewels even a hobby? Are they collectors, sellers or maybe minerllogists? Child Care, that seems a little more than something one does from time to time for relaxation. 11/7/2010
yash which colour girls like? 10/22/2010
joker these are all amazing and wonderful hobbies theirs a question whats the most fun and scary hobbies a person can do? 10/4/2010

Andy Lb List your interests / hobbies / goals on lifebrixx in a really fun visual way. 9/13/2010
Lynn First of all, i think your hobbies list is very sexist. Girls and women are interested in "sewing" and "knitting" while guys are into "computers" "reading" and all the more intelligent stuff? Your image of an average girl/woman is severely unjust. Girls are a lot more than picking out clothes and cooking and putting on makeup. Girls also love reading/doing sports/playing intelligent games like chess, thankyou very much.

Try to get rid of your bias/stereotyping or do something called RESEARCH before you write an article first. Sheesh, it scares me to see how ignorant some people in our society are.

cutie pie great collection from different ages 9/1/2010
:- / I think it is very interesting that you have classed reading as a "men's hobby". Do women not read? I have no idea why it should be masculine in any way- unless you have some kind of disorder which prevents you from living in the current century. Actually (since you ask) I think that you are sexist and illogically stereotypical. I am female, and can safely say that none of your "female hobbies" interest me, nor do any of them interest any female that I know, though of many of the "mens hobbies" do. Unless you do actually have some kind of reality perception disorder, are under the age of ten or intended this page as a joke, get over yourself. 8/7/2010
Sarah I found this to be a very sexist and at times inaccurate portrayal of different past-times. For example, why is there a need that so many hobbies be gender assigned? Why would reading, photography, traveling etc. be things in which only men take an interest. Similarly, why could only women partake in astrology, cooking etc. These are grossly inaccurate statements to make. What you're saying is that women should engage only in activities which may be described as fairly passive and often frivolous, whereas those which you have prescribed to men are far more practical and intellectual. Perhaps in olden times when the sexes conscribed to their predetermined roles would these lists have been slightly more acceptable. 'Slightly' however is what is important to note in that point. What you have written is very demeaning, biased and judgemental and what I have outlined has only just begun to explain why.

In addition to what I have written above, your article is also very poorly defined in terms of those items which you have assigned to particular age groups. Take, for example, the list you have written pertaining to small children. Every item on that list could be enjoyed by a person of any age. Indeed, there are some (i.e. bird-watching, which you speak of climbing mountains to complete) which are, in fact, not suitable for those of a young age due to dangers which may arise.

Another point which I feel must be made is your prejudice towards certain activities. An example of this is when you speak of the activities that those living in mountainous regions may enjoy. There is no reason why people living in such regions should be 'interested in different species of plants, animals, birds or insects' or enjoy 'painting landscapes, or taking photos' simply because they have a greater exposure to to this aspect of life. Likewise there are no reasons why a person living outside of a region such as this should not take an interest in the above-mentioned things. The same may be said for the point you made that playing cards ' may even lead to gambling and addiction'. While this may be true in a very small number of cases it appears to me that is an entirely unnecessary comment to make on the matter. This is an activity which is healthily enjoyed by many (both male and female) and your point does nothing but imply that men in particular (specifically those who engage in this activity) are quite susceptible to afflictions such as those which you mentioned. This further strengthens the points I made above pertaining to the sexism displayed in your article.

What I have outlined here are just a few of the faults in your article. These, combined with your apparent disregard for syntax and grammatical correctness, make for very poor quality reading. I would advise you to, in the future, think more carefully about what you are writing so as to avoid a recurrence of such an article of substandard quality which incontrovertibly is poorly researched and erroneous.

niteesh realy helpful ! 11/8/2009
ztruth I like these hobbies, and some submit excellent ideas..but I dislike that the "feminine" hobbies were mainly frivolous silly ideas and the "masculine" ones were intellectual or hands-on. Perhaps there should've been a "unisex" category to fit in.

Fem:
knitting

Unisex:
movies

Male:

a angry teen update man! 10/20/2009
saeeed very useull information and help me to decide my own hobbies and interst keeep up the good work. 10/15/2009
REnee Wow! So women are interested in makeup, modeling, babies, and sewing and men do active things and use their brains to read? So sexist and demeaning. Women are more than pretty to look at - maybe you should think about that when you make these lists. 10/14/2009
Mary Walsh That was a very sexist list. Accoding to you, women can't be interested in anything that requires them to think. Woman play sports, read and travel. We don't just sit around knitting. What century are your from? 10/5/2009
pi55ed Yes because women can never read, drive, use a computer, or take pictures. Men never model, are always obsessed with sports, and love cars.

You can also say Indian people hobbies include making curry, riding taxis, owning convenience stores, and having a dozen kids. and black people love eating fried chicken, drinking grape soda, being gangsta, and listening to rap or hip-hop ONLY.

If you couldn't tell, i was being sarcastic. Your stereotypes based on not only sex but also age are appalling. like, W T F?

suchita sood hobbies that suits people of diferent personalities should be given.that may be more interesting instead of giving dis list 7/18/2009
Michelle Your division of hobbies between men and women is horrbly offensive. So only men like to read and play sports? Women are just into cooking, makeup and child care? Dieting? Really? 7/1/2009
pradeep Really, it is very interested and knowledgefull 6/27/2009
soPHia Kind of sexist... Im a girl and I don't like ANY of the women hobbies. Natural remedies and jewels? Pffft! In fact I like a lot of the men hobbies like computers, sports, travelling, reading, and chess. How can you say these are men hobbies esp. reading? 6/26/2009
Lauren Well i think i am going to take up sculpting
thanks for helping me.

Par wonderful for what i needed 5/28/2009
activegirl I must say that I do not at all appreciate you thinking it is okay to classify these hobbies by male and female, putting women in a completely domestic sphere, and men in the realm of active or technical activities. these generalizations are outdated and unfair, rather hobbies should simply be listed and people able to find their own preferences rather than being told what is suited for them based upon gender. 5/22/2009
jordy.xx i'm really not sure about these hobbies. im sorry but they dont appeal to me, at all. 5/3/2009
