I think we should not wear uniforms parents and teachers tell the students not to wear certain attire but yhu look at some of their outfits and the young teachers be rockin short skirts and spaghetti strapped shirts...and the other ones be wearin tight pants and yhu look at a parent and they got on a long shirt with leggings and some big pumps that they go break they necks in and they talk about us...im just stating facts i feel more comforatable in my own clothing than in uniform that everybody else wear too...and some schools try to have a dress down day every friday. answer this who wants to pay one dollar to wear they own clothes pitty...and whats wrong with the teachers payin 5$ just to wear jeans ? some people aint got that much money to be blowin and thery expect us to buy clothes every year...we get regular clothes on a daily bases so it aint nothing for a parent to buy their kids a couple new outfits but not the school uni they want like 10 or 20 $ just for one shirt...RIP OFFwell i gotta go but i was just stating facts...and our colors is red and black and white but they say they dont want us wearing gang related stuff...hahahahahah red and black is mostly a gang color especially red...they tryna get us shot after school ? |

im not sure but i think my school is thinking about uniforms. if they do put uniforms in ill go home school school uniforms are a bad idea not only do they take away our freedom of choice they make it seem like we arent important our future isnt important and our education isnt important either. if they write you up because you arent wearing your uniform or because your uniform isnt in proper order a wrinkle or a crease collar turned up things like that. it shows the school cares more about the fact that your clothes arent right instead of your education. another thing school uniforms show no changes in disciplinary or bullying statistics. in fact bullying becomes more common because all u have to do is make sure they dont know your name and that their to busy looking at your fist to notice your face. walk away and blend into the crowd the victim doesnt know the name cant describe by clothing because its like every one elses and they didnt catch his face. what about a natural disaster that may damage the facial structure and make them unrecognizable how do parents i.d their child by clothing they left home in. school uniforms are a bad idea and i will not go to a school with a polacy never gonna happen. |

Sorry about the grammer in the last one spelling was good i forgot periods. School uniforms are a bad idea im a guy so i dont understand the concept of drama at the closet. I am one of the kids who gets picked on but if you know what your doing it works out ok. Yes people still pick on me but if you can find an advantage you can turn most of them into friends. I did have a few advantages from the start though i moved here 4 years ago. I had already known a couple of friends who went here they are in the cool group. Unfortunatly i screwed up off the bat and got a bad reputation. Im doin good now though 57 out of the 62 kids who picked on me are now kinda friends and only joke around whent they say things. I would give tips to those who are being bullied but as far as i can tell the site forbids it. Even if your the most unpopular person you can change it. Do what you can to fit in be yourself and if need be do something to gain a cool person look. If you can get one cool person to pay attention and you make a good impression say they think your funny. All you gotta do is keep that person in your favor and it spreads he/she tells friends and eventually you are in the group...kinda. They wont pick on you as much and its typically joking around but at the same time your social status doesnt really change. if your a geek your still a geek but they will treat you like a friend and in certain circumstances be your friend. |

i am 14 and against school uniforms because of a few reasons 1.people our age typicaly either a. wear the clothing that fits into the group or b. wear clothing that expresses who we are uniforms would cut away our individuallity and make us feel like every one is the same no one is better at something then some one else i can really draw and there are a few matches to my skill here but it makes me feel special knowing not many can draw like me reason 2. what if a natural disaster occurs i doubt and hope one doesnt but how does a parent i.d their child if everyone is supposed to wear the same clothing reason 3. this gives bullies in higher grades an advantage against the younger ones say a 8th grader beats up a 7th grader the 7th grader does not know the 8th graders name how does he i.d the bully by clothing and maybe the kid was to busy staring at a fist to notice the bullies face. school uniforms were never a good idea and personally to me never will be just because things improve after uniforms are put in doesnt mean its the uniforms doing it i read a study and there is no physical evedince saying that it is the uniforms. When my grandparents still went to school every child was happy if you look around these days there are many children who express themselves very down( wear black all the time) It's not because in our grandparents' time their weren't computers, mobile phones, no it's because in this time you can see who is poor and who is rich who spends a lot of time to wear fashion and who doesn't. Many children have been bullied when they were younger. This is frequently because of their clothes! So I think when they bring back the schooluniforms the children will be happy again. |

I just read your article about school uniforms. This is my last year (hopefully) in high school in Belgium, Heilig Hart Heverlee. Actually I neither’m for a school uniform nor against a school uniform. This because it has his positive and his negative consequences. First of all I wouldn’t dislike a uniform because it gives no chance to discrimination because every pupil wears the same outfit every day. On the other hand I wouldn’t like it that much because you can’t express yourself and your way of living by your own clothes. I hope our school doesn’t oblige a school! My name is Anne-Leen Vanbrusselen and I go to school in Heverlee at the Heilig-Hartinstituut.
I am 17 years old and I wouldn’t like to wear a school uniform.
When it is required to wear a school uniform the school will cost extra money because you have to buy a uniform and going to school is already really expansive. I also believe that school uniforms are less comfortable than clothes that match one’s personal details. In summer when it is smokin’ hot it is also unpleasant to wear a uniform. Or in winter when it’s freezing outside it can be difficult to keep you warm or you have to wear a thousand t-shirts underneath you uniform.
It can also be dangerous to wear uniforms. When you go to a snobbish school for example, there might be poor children who can be so jealous that they’ll attack you.
When the school obligates you to wear a uniform people can less express themselves. When you look at someones outfit you can define they’re personality. My opinion? You can’t take that away from children who are creating an own personality.

I think it’s a good idea to reintroduce school uniforms. But for the girls the skirts should be shorter and more up to date. The shirts should be more feminine and we should be able to loosen up the ties. The boys should wear a nice blazer and some jeans. And there must be a summer uniform and a winter uniform. I think it will be a good idea to invent a "casual Friday". Each Friday the boys and girls can wear their own clothes.
I agree that school uniforms make it easier for the school authorities to recognize students belonging to their school. And it is much easier for the parents and students, there won’t be any drama’s at the closet each morning. When a school has school uniforms there won’t be daily battles regarding what’s appropriate or not for school. And when students don’t have to spend time wondering what to wear and how to make a fashion statement, they can devote more time to getting an education.
So, that’s my opinion.

Because when pupils wear uniforms you don't notice the differences between children of families who are poor or rich. I think there would be less problems because some pupils are excluded by their clothes. There is more equality when there're uniforms in a school. But on the other side all the uniforms are uncomfortable and ugly. So I won't like to wear them. But when they would oblige me I would wear them rathor not. |

I’m a 17 year old student from Belgium. Mine opinion is that school uniforms aren’t such a good idea. There are some suggestions that school uniforms reduced discrimination, violence and crime. And that’s why the students should have better results. At our school in Belgium is no violence that’s needs to be reduced. In a normal school, students don’t commit crimes. At more violent schools it may be a good solution but not for crime and violence only for discrimination because, if everyone wears the same clothing there would be no more discrimination about that. But like I said in the text school uniforms will not reduce crime or violence.

I think school uniforms are great for students! They make everybody equal and its harder to look scruffy or bad-dressed. The school uniforms must have an age limit! I do not agree kids have to wear this too in school. I think kids should be able to dress the way they want to. The way someone dresses shows their personality. When someone has to wear a uniform they are not able to express themselves in their clothes. I think school uniforms don't need to take away our individuality but they are boring. My opinion about school uniforms is that wearing a uniform isn't that bad as long there is enough variation in the school uniforms, like not only a blazer but also a nice sweater, trouser and a normal shirt. It makes you look mature, so it is maybe not a bad idea to get uniforms but only in the last grade of my school perhaps. It is cool when you are older but when you are from the first grade at high school, it is pretty ridiculous to wear I think. If they would introduce a school uniform at school, I don't think everyone would be willy to wear a classical uniform with a jacket and a tie.I think it would be a good idea if the principal woud set up some kind of referendum for the students, then they would know how the students think about school uniforms, and they could also leave suggestions for how the school uniform should look like. if they would consider the views of students, I think school uniforms could be a succesful idea.

I myself am a student from the holy heart of heverlee i'm 17 years old. The comments I have read about school uniforms are interesting but rather irrelevant. I think it's not important that we al where the same clothes and that it isn't cool or what so ever . It's more important that everybody could afford the uniform. Some uniforms and blazers are rather expensive! On the other side, uniforms take a big part of the bullying away. The bullies can't make fun anymore about the children with cheaper or uglier clothes. Hello, I'm a pupil from the Heilig Hart instituut located somewhere in a little coutry called Belgium.
I'm 19 years old and I personally believe that we should be able to wear school uniforms.
I think it's pretty cool to wear a school uniform because I think it looks so much more mature than the average clothes we wear. I do think that uniforms can be quite stylish with the right colors used. It makes you feel a part of the school and nobody or less people would get bullied because of their clothing style.
Well this was just my opinion and if uniforms would be approved I wouldn't mind wearing them.

Hello everybody, I am an 18 year old student from Belgium, Heilighart Heverlee, and I think school uniforms are somewhat superfluous because I would rather not wear those "silly" uniforms. Every single person in the universe is different, so it would made us look in some sort of way the same (no individuality). On the other hand it is good to deal with racism and gang formations, because clothing is a very typical for gangs on school. Also I would like to say that school uniforms are not always inexpensive, it would be another thing that MUST be worn, and it’s not that you can wear these school uniforms at other places. Often it is the uniform that is quite inappropriate, being too cold in winter or too hot in summer, because it is difficult to wear just one sort of uniform. |

I think wearing a uniform at school is not such a good idea, because everyone would be the same and that's no fun. I would get so bored if I had to wear the same uniform each day. I like wearing my own clothes and I love shopping! You don't get to choose the uniform you have to wear so if it doesn't suit you then you just have bad luck. You do get to choose your own clothes so they probably will suit you. If you feel good in your clothes then you're also more happy and more stimulated for school. So no uniforms for me! |

People express theirselves in the way they dress and when you need to wear a uniform, you need to express yourself with accesorries, your haircut,... Many pupils wouldn't like to go to school anymore just because of the uniform. Now everybody has his own style of clothes and it's a part of your personality. When everybody wears the same, it would be very boring. Maybe it's an option to advise a school uniform, but not to force. Hello my name is Mike, I am new to this debate but I already have my opinion about it. On the one side I think school uniforms are a good thing because they break down the barriers between the different socioeconomic groups. Children and teenagers who are less fortuned than others don’t have to feel bad or by bullied because they don’t ware brand clothes. I think schools which require school uniforms are preparing the student for the real life. That is because you will need to ware a uniform later at your work and so we they can get use to it, but on the other side is not so good because some students feel jailed in uniforms and feel that they can’t be themselves. |

I'm a student of the HHH in Belgium and I think that a uniform is a very bad idea. My school want's to introduce uniforms. Students express their personality with their clothes, the kind of music that they listen,... So when schools introduce uniforms they actually forbid students to express their personnality. I think that the bullying won't stop when they introduce uniforms, because bulliers will always find another reason to bully someone. I wouldn't feel well in a uniform even when everybody has to wear it.

Some people say that uniforms stop students from expressing themselves, but I think it doesn’t.
Does everybody ask themselves ‘does this express me’? No, you are the same person when you are wearing an uniform. You don’t change your personality with a school uniform.
The uniforms aren’t the same as 50 years ago. On this moment, pupils only have to wear the same color of clothes.
But on the other side, I think that all students should have the right to wear what they like.
I should never go to a school with uniforms, but when the headmaster of my school says tomorrow that we have to wear this, than I accept this. |

I don't like school uniforms, because you can not express your feelings, you need to wear clothes where you are feeling comfortable in. The students must choose if they want to wear school uniforms or not.. otherwise they may not establish the schooluniform in a school. The most important thing is that the students feel happy and secure. |

Hello, I just read your article about school uniforms and I would like to say a few things. I think that we live in a time where everybody should have the chance to express themselves. Clothes are a verry good way to do that. I think it's a little bit silly to think that school uniforms would be a way to create evenness between the pupils. They will always try to find a way to show their personality through their clothes or their appearance. Give them the chance to show their personal creativity through the way they dress. Almost every girl loves to shop. So what's the fun of shopping if you can't show it at school? I believe that everbody should have the right to decide what they wear at school. Of course, you still have to respect school rules, like skirts that are too short shouldn't be accepted. This is my idea of the whole school uniform situation. |

Hi, I am a student at the Heilig-Hartinstituut in Heverlee and I'm 18 years old, I think that wearing uniforms at school is a bad idea , because it makes it harder for school staff to identify problem-makers and it looks kind of boring because you can not choose your own clothes. Anyway , I would never wear a uniform at school , even if they force me to ! I think it's kind of fun that we can talk about this topic because we should all say what is on our own mind ! It's old school like in the fresh prince of bel-air.
People only see the bad sides of a school uniform. But people who are often bullied because the dress bad, now won't have that problem any more. But those uniforms will cost the school and the students money. When wearing a school uniform people can't express them self in the way they dress and for the teachers would it be much harder to recognise a trouble maker if every body is wearing the same clothes. For the students those uniforms might be uncomfortable. I think that students should have the right to express them self in the way they dress, so no uniforms at school. |

I think school uniforms are useless because it's easy for someone to say that it are their clothes when they aren't. On the other hand you don't get laughed at because of your clothing, yet they'll keep laughing with you for who you are and it takes away some people's freedom. It brings solutions, but it also brings problems. Say what you like, it isn't our discision to make, because they'll do it if they want and there'll be nothing to do about it. Don't you people understand that? it's the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. It's a really bad nightmare. If you really don't want school uniforms, then tell that to your headmaster or teacher, but don't post it on the internet and do nothing else. It won't help! |

I don't like school uniforms at all. It makes you feel diffrent and i think that the school have to take people just the way they are. They dont need to be dressing up everybody like dolls.Some people say that school uniforms reduce discrimination, bullying, violence and crime with would help learning and create a better learning environment but in fact it doesn't help at all. I really don't see the point of dresing everybody in the same way. NO SCHOOL UNIFORMS IN SCHOOL.
