D but what african country are they from? 5/5/2009
nomdeguerre Great list but it should be longer. Wheres Jesse Jackson? MLK ? Danny Glover? Lawrence Fishbourne? 5/4/2009
Bling Queen I think that America knew what they were doing putting a black man in charge. When our country is at it worst and the economy is at it's worst you put you best in. America has finally got an upgrade. I think that others did many great things as president, but I really think blacks have worked under extreme pressures, have endured much physical and mental abuse and are strong enough to turn this country around. I think Obama was USA's "secret weaponn" America has finally gotten an upgrade 4/20/2009
Bling Queen I agree that for centuries white people have had their history taught throughout the world, even when blacks invented things, designed things, or has great ideas, white people who were in charge of patents did not allow blacks to even get credit for their ideas. Black people have been suppressed for many years and that is why their accomplishments are so important. It is easy for a man to ride a bike down a street with no trafffic, but imagine it if you have cars and buses trying to intercept your every move. That is why blacks get recognized for what they do. They have had many obsticles in their paths. I do see the threat. White people have always been the powerful ones who hid knowledge from other to allow themselves to be superior and blacks in threat of loosing their lives and lively hood did not dare to read or write because it was not allowed. They were put on the fields picking cotton, doing hard labor, now they have the bodies, physical strength and knowledge, so of course we are more of a super breed and race now and a force to be reconned with. But we also have been taught to love our enemies so we are more so a peaceful race that looks beyond those things that happened and most of us just want a better life. Because we are now educated we can accomplish a lot more with our physical and mental strength and pretty brown bodies. 4/20/2009

No wonder some countries think we're spoiled because we Americans get free education and take it for granted selling drugs, smoking crack, robing, murdering and more. June B-S Your list has Jamaican Americans and other black ethnic groups listed as African-Americans. African-American Americans are a sub-racial ethnic group of Americans whose origin began with the Slave Trade. We have at least one Ancestor who was enslaved during the slavery era. Tiger's father is an African-American, therefore Tiger is an African-American. Colin Powell's father & mother are Jamaicans, Obama's father is a Kenyan, Marcus Garvey's parents, Jamaicans,& etc. This is a difficult subject to talk about in small spaces. I have developed an entire web site dedicated to providing information to Americans, hoping they will learn more about the African-American People. Bowmansims 12/2/2008
Mike Ernie Davis should be included too don't you think 10/8/2008
Candice It makes me proud to be a black person(not African American). Because , We represent the greatest of our past generations, who have left the door of oppertunity open for us younger generations and generations to come. 7/12/2008
