Canadian Family Shocked by "Nigger-Brown" Furniture from China

A sofa set delivered to a Toronto family had the label "nigger-brown" to describe the color of the furniture, a slur blamed on Chinese language translation software.

Joe S you know, that sofa's color is very close to the shade of black skin 9/11/2009
Niger Brown those crazy chinks, what can you do 9/11/2009
james What a silly mistake to make.

Still, legal action? that's a bit far, don't you think? Why not take action against the black music industry for their over-use of the 'n' word instead, rather than some poor furniture maker in god-knows where for making a simple mistake.

Over sensitive.

Edna Torrey IT IS HARD TO BELIEVE HOW PEOPLE CAN BE SO MEAN TO OTHER HUMAN BEINGS AND CLAIM IGNORANCE AS A REASON. I PERSONALLY DO NOT BELIEVE HATRED WILL EVER GO AWAY BECAUSE PEOPLE FEEL GOOD STEPPING ON SOME ELSE'S FEELINGS. HOW SAD EVEN THE CHINESE ARE ACTING STUPID NOW. WOW 8/21/2008
Frances Libman Ms. Moore and her black lawyer wants to make money. Get this, she does not have to pay him until she wins.

Her lawyer has been harassing the furniture outfit for money for months and months. The OHRC will catch on that they are after money.

The lawyer told her to act victimised and pretend to be sick and make a lot of money out of it. What a money hungry lawyer.

brownman I think moore is an idiot and wasting too much time on this. Who cares it happens wait till she goes to school and have her peers heckle her for this incident. Nothing will come out of this other then the fact Ms. Moore has wasted too much of her time on this topic. All i know is your daughter is going to be the one to suffer from all of this and not any of the suppliers, Traders involved. They have the money to back it up where you may be left in the "dark". 12/26/2007
timmy She should stick that label to her face 12/19/2007
Anastacia To Dan: Oh, my gosh, you're right! My bad...although the woman in the story was born and raised in New York...I'll see if that can be changed. Thanks for pointing that out! -Anastacia (the article writer) 4/24/2007
Dan Begging your pardon, but the family living in Brampton, Ontario, *Canada* are Canadian (or African-Canadian, if we must), not African-American. Canada is not part of the US; Canadians are not Americans. 4/23/2007
James "... Romesh Vanaik, claimed to not be aware of the racial slur’s meaning. "It’s amazing. I’ve been here since 1972 and I never knew the meaning of this word." ..."

suuuuure you didn't.
