Caro Holland After years of doctors and trying everything I read about sodium bicarbonate. I bought a vaginal syringe, filled it with lukewarm water and added one teaspoon of baking soda and shook it. Did this twice a day for two days and I WAS CURED, the relief was instant. rkw No, any vinegar won't do. ACV is what you need. From what I've read in my research white vinegar has a different chemical make-up and actually encourages yeast growth. Do a bit more research next time. 9/9/2010

Judy N I have been using tetraconazole cream prescribed by my doctor for the yeast infection for the last 3 days and the itching and burning have been getting worse. I just tried the apple cider vinegar bath and amazingly all the itching and burning have stopped! Does anyone know how many times I need to this to insure that the infection is gone? I will also try the tea tree oil in diluted form (as recommended by one of the posters) and start taking the unsweetened yogurt. And as to how I got the infection, I think it was from taking bubble baths since I read on another site that that can cause it. I hadn't had one in over 15 years so I do think the bubble baths were the cause. I had just started taking them. 7/13/2010

A few things:

Tea tree oil should be diluted before applying to tender raw infected vaginal skin. It is excruciating pain if you put it on pure, esp. if it's on a tampon inside the vagina!

I have tried inserting a pod (clove) of garlic that I smashed before inserting...DO NOT DO THIS! I cannot express in words how excruciatingly painful this is! I saw on another website that there are different dosages one must test themselves with: start with a clove that has no nicks...the more nicks the higher the dosage. DO NOT do more than cutting a clove in half if you have tested yourself. DO NOT chop it up or crush it before inserting.

I read on another website that by using regular vinegar you will make the infection worse but by using organic apple-cider vinegar, it helps.

Avoid dairy with exception to plain unsweetened yogurt. DO NOT douche with sweetened yogurt

Avoid sugars, artificial sweeteners, honey and fruit. Sugar feeds infection.

Take acidophilus pills. The kind that must be refrigerated. Yogurt doesn't have enough acidophilus to cure a raging infection. You must replace the healthy bacteria after you've killed bacteria with the garlic.

Do all of this for 5 - 7 days...even if symptoms have improved before this time period is over!		 4/24/2010
Christina OMG do not EVER put any type of sugar near a yeast infection, it feeds it so it will get worse! Also acidic environments kill bacteria or inhibit the growth of your body's naturally occuring bacteria which usually keep the fungi t bay because they compete for territory... hence using mold (fungi) such as penicillin as an antibiotic. No sugar, and a low acidity are the best ways to prevent yeast infections, and possibly fix them if it is early enough. 4/5/2010

Helpful Lady First of all, yes yeast infections can be spread during sexual intercourse. Men can be unknowing carriers of yeast infections, and repeatedly infect their partners.

Also, the sexual act itself can cause a yeast infection in women (particularly rougher sex), so just following the suggestions at the bottom of this article will not protect you completely.		 2/26/2009

Anonymous The best cure for yeast infections is douching with 1/2 bottle of aloe vera gel (organic from a vitamin store) mixed with 1/2 bottle of non-sugar yogurt (organic goat's milk yogurt seems to be the best). This usually stops the infection within two to three days. May have to repeat once more depending on the severity. Also, take 500 mg of niacinamide daily for 7 days. June I was speechless when I read to use honey to cure your yeast infection- yeast feeds on glucose, so using honey would cause your yeast infection to get worse. You need to treat the cause of the yeast infection, not the symptoms (itching and burning) or it will not go away. Go to your doctor/pharmacy and get an anit-fungal cream or pills. 5/11/2008

tiphany hughes i have an extremely itchy hmm well u know! iv had it about 5 days now, it started off at the bottom of my vagina and then to the middle and then to my clit, its so itchy! and painful when iv itched it burns like mad!!.. i looked on the internet and seen the symptoms of a yeast infection, i think this is what i have. i have used simple moisturiser on it to cool it down and it feels so good! i recomend this to anyone suffering the same problem.. 1/10/2008
